CHN Engine Series

The CHN series was designed by the CDI department in Coronado , after the Exodus from Tau 44. The engines is an adaptation of the old and highly maneuverability engines.

The Republic and it’s engineers saw that now they have to adapt to a new way of warfare, a hit and run tactic and so the new “Long Range Engine” models were born. The new engine requires low maintenance and is very sturdy, making an ideal balance between fuel consumption and efficiency, creating thus one of the best Long Range Engines.

The engine created a fusion reaction that broke down the fuel into charged particles known as ions. The energy generated by the reaction created thrust which propelled the ship. Directional movement was attained by smaller lateral thrusters on the vessels.

The CHN could operate on virtually any type of fuel the CHN was easily modified to accept liquid reactants, energy conversion cells as a replacement fuel source. The design was also highly adaptable, being able to be scaled down to fit in a fighter, or enlarged to work on a capital ship. The design's common nature meant that repairing the drive was easy, as most technicians were intimately familiar with the workings of a CHN. Replacement parts were also commonly stocked throughout the Republic stations.

The exhaust from the CHN was hot and slightly radioactive, but was safe to use within the atmosphere of an inhabited planet. The emissions were shielded using collector coils which were routinely scrubbed and replaced during maintenance.
