Advice on RP character

I am trying to make a character based somewhat on Captain Malcolm Reynolds from the TV series Firefly. My character has high morals, but does not see eye-to-eye with the lawfuls. I would trade and smuggle, protect other thraders and "innocents," hunt pirates which are in it only for themselves (not those which are for the people - Robin Hood style), and furfill bounty contracts which are not against the poor, be they lawful or unlawful contracts. I would not participate in piracy with the exception of demanding human cargo held against their will (slaves and captured pilots come to mind). I would also not participate in any military operations, except when such participation would fall within the lines of a bounty contract, or where participation would protect a peaceful/innocent underdog.

Now for my question: is there any ID which allows this? So far, the closest ID that I have found is the Freelancer ID, but that seems too "lawful" - it lets me participate in any lawful military operations (which I don't want to do), and it does not allow me to demand the release of slaves.

Well, the only real alternative to the Freelancer ID, in your case, would be the Smuggler ID... which allows trade, but not military operations, and denotes a less-than-perfect history with the lawfuls... Saying that, the option of participation in military ops desn't mean you need to.

DQ

EDIT: On the plus side, you do get the 'Serenity' in the game:)that will aid the authenticity hehe

The Smuggler ID also sends the wrong message, and still doesn't let me demand slaves........ Oh well, maybe the next mod version will have an ID which lets me do so.

And yes, I know that there is a Firefly. That's what I'm saving up for.

Hmm... Vigilante ID?

"A vigilante is just a man lost in the scramble for his own gratification. He can be destroyed, or locked up. But if you make yourself more than just a man, if you devote yourself to an ideal, and if they can't stop you, then you become something else entirely . . . a legend."

That, and it would prevent me from doing to whole trading/smuggling in a Firefly - no freighters or transports.

Edit: I just looked at the Freelancer ID from the next mod version and saw that it has no ban on demanding cargo (although it prevents pirating). Does this mean that I could demand the release of slaves as I said in my first post? They would effectively become contraband in the eyes of my RP character. Also, the Junker ID has permissions which fit, but their RP is different, and I have no idea what their zone of influence is.
