Messieurs, mesdames,

I have been tasked with assembling a new component of our fleet that will be specialised in commerce raiding, interdiction, skirmishing and logistical efforts. This decision has been motivated by the recent operational success achieved by the Félin Majestique (Taureau) and La Moqueuse (Perilous) units in Bretonia. Although the Marine Royale has been bringing back significant victories against the liberto-bretonian forces, our current structure lacks a mobile, light and agile component. As such, our efforts in the field of interdiction and disruption have been behind our strategic projections. This will be remedied with the revival of the time-proven Guerre de course concept.

I am announcing the creation of unit 5G, which stands for Gallant Gallic Gunboat Gobbler Group, a remarkably humorous title which its victims will no doubt savour, as their goods are pilfered and their hulls set aflame as they watch. All pilots are encouraged to devote some of their time to 5G operations, which will require the procurement of either a Perilous-class corvette (GB) or a Taureau-class combat transport (GAT). Light and heavy fighters can also be used.

5G'S PRIMARY OBJECTIVES

- Identification and interdiction of enemy shipping. This chiefly concerns Bretonian and Libertonian primary logistical wings operating anywhere in our usual zones of operation.
NOTE : any contact, unaffiliated civilian included, suspected of collaborating in any way with the liberto-bretonian forces and unable to produce a satisfactory explanation (left to the operator's appreciation) is fair game for cargo confiscation, arrest or destruction of craft. This will be particularly true for any contact caught in the borders between Leeds and California.
- Hit and run combat operations. The Marine Royale excels at frontal assaults : 5G is meant to reinforce our skirmishing abilities. It should be deployed in large numbers in every gap of the enemy's defence, wage maximum chaos and retreat before the situation becomes intenable.
- Fleet support. Deployed in wolf packs, Perilous corvettes could eat Manhattan in a matter of minutes, if Manhattan was not a congealed blob of fat and wasted potential.
- Logistics support. GATs are formidable units in a firefight, but their ample cargo holds can be reconfigured for profitable trading missions between Gallia and the front, with the safety brought on by armed convoys. Keep in mind that the Marine Royale's budget is stretched thin : every little bit helps.
- Prisoner transport. With the ongoing operations in Magellan and Cortez, a considerable amount of enemy personnel is detained in increasingly crowded conditions. A modular installation will need to be constructed to house them : once that is done, the prisoners will need to be ferried into Gallic core space, and the base will require logistics support.

5G'S PROJECTED RESOURCES

- Perilous-class corvettes (GB) will work in tandem with Taureau-class combat transports (GAT). These can be procured either in Gallic space or close to the frontlines : the corvette is available in our installations in Cortez (Carcassonne) and Manchester (Embrun), and the GAT in New London (Castres), for around 40 millions each. Interceptor support will be welcomed : Caracal-class and Serval-class fighters are enough to join 5G operations if you're low on cash.
- Naming convention for both GATs and GBs is MRG|TL-Shipname. TL is for transport logistique, a charming understatement to underline how good we are at dumbfounding our enemies.
- Preferred names (not mandatory) for GBs are feminine adjectives with determinants (//such as La Moqueuse : the mocking one, or La Rieuse : the laughing one. See here for inspiration if needed, or just ask me) or, for GATs, animal names (you can add an adjective if you feel like it/have enough room) (//such as Bouledogue, Hirondelle, Putois blagueur, chat furieux...).

As a final reminder, owning these crafts is not necessary to contribute to 5G operations, though they're intended as its backbone : light and heavy fighter pilots are encouraged to tag along.
