I've recently dabbled in factions outside what I normally play, out of fun. The Hogosha are an involved faction, with Corsair relations, raiding Bretonia, 'home-guarding' Kusari and chasing the undesirables out of Kusari among several other duties.

I decided to make one. I needed a ship that could fight, escape, and haul cargo all equally well, and for this reason I chose the Kushan freighter.

It's not a Kusari make, which is what makes me a bit shaky. In terms of gameplay it's absolutely ideal for what I want to do with it, even fitting Hogosha turrets in such a method as to make them surprisingly effective. It's just that it's a 'grey area' ship.

Is this fine, or should I seek out something else?

I'd say zoner ships are fine for just about anyone, but from my take on it... hogosha are ultra nationalists, and would probably never use something that wasnt designed by kusari engineers.

However, Doom said a while back that freighters might be getting buffed in 4.85, so perhaps the kusari freighter will be worthy of use.

Freighters in general need a buff. That's a niche of ship class that opens up a whole new angle of roleplay.

And while I do agree that Hogosha are ultra-nationalist, there just isn't that much else out there that can actually perform roleplayable tasks on a level par to the rest of the server.

The Kushan would work well, Baffin is just at the edge of Kusari ZOI, and its a neutral ship. I say it would be your best option for a freighter.

I use a civilian bomber, as you said there isn't a lot of choice, we can only use Kusari military ships sparingly and if the military allow it.

I think anything made by the Zoners, Corsairs or the Order should be ok within reason however we have to be sympathetic to all of our allies so that doesn't mean flying around Kusari in a Zoner battleship and upsetting the emporer with too much foreign hardware.

Indeed. Let us not forget the Millenium Falcon was a freighter.

I hope its quite a large buff, star wars never had the Super Nova, I dont think even the millenium falcon could survive one.

Well, just bringing all freighters in line with the Turanic Raiders and Kushan lines would be adequate. Fit them and fly them right and they can take on fighters and bombers, just being a tier below the 'good' ships in terms of agility. Giving them torpedo slots could possibly see the game balance shift to include freighters in the grand scheme of combat mixes, which could be rather amusing. They already can take a serious pounding and toss out respectable forward firepower.

Don't amp them up too much, though. We don't need a pile of more Armored Transports.
