It's been a long road to sort out the HAF/OPG mess, and this is the last but one step in finally doig so.

We, the Admin team, have been in negotiatins with your faction (the OPG) and have come to the following conclusions with their help:


Karolis, your attempt to engineer a situation whereby you gate another player sanctioned was beyond disgusting. Had we not recieved the skype logs we did, you'd likely have gotten away with it too. As it was we were forwarded those logs and we arrive at this decision.

You are hereby banned for 30 days and your OPG ships stripped down to a bare hull.

Grimly and Jure, as senior members of both the OPG and Discovery GC in general, you should have known better than to incite someone to this course of action. In fact you should have been dissuading your fellow faction member from taking this road. Your lapse in decency and judgement has led to this:

You are both hereby banned for 7 days.

The rules are there to provide balance and enhance gameplay where the game engine cannot do so. They are not to be abused for your own selfish and petty ends.

On a side note thank you to the OPG high cammand who asissted with these decisions. It cannot have been easy for you. The Admin team's appreciation should be noted.

Well, we can't even joke in OPG chat ...

The problem is I told Karolis it was a joke, he made his char and I told him that didn't make really sense. In addition, I was not able to connect at this time, I had a work to do.

Then, Karolis went with his only report screen from this "civi OPG". We were 2 or 3 in OPG chat to tell him that reports would be an epic fail. The hunter in question made also his apologizes, everyone in OPG may have seen the screens. Also this same player should have asked himself also how the hell he eliminated an OPG so fast.

To Karolis : I respect you Karolis, you're a good friend, but here, you were pretty wrong, sorry.

To Admins : When will I be back ? in 4 days or 1 week ?
You can see here ( http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?sh...31965&st=11 ) I was waiting to be free 3 days ago. Since I've seen that message, I'm still jailed, I didn't had any informations, even Hoodlum I PMed in game didn't answer me.

Sorry to post here but wanted to say something on behalf of HAf that they can't say for themselves.

I have been in exactly this same position in the past THREE times as a newer faction creator--an established "reputable" faction engineered events and appearances to "file a complaint/sanction"--both as ammo to use with admins AND other players. On one occasion I was able to actually produce evidence--the other two happened when I first proposed the Congress 'way back and I wasn't savvy enough to realize until after the fact what was happening,

It is incredibly frustrating to be a new person putting real effort into building something here and to have a few who have already arrived devoted to ruining your play, reputation and faction attempt--though innuendo, false accusation, oorp behavior and rules lawyering. The balance usually tilts towards the old hands and it makes it even harder to get a fair shot at remedying things.

HAF showed incredible restraint on the multiple occasions I stumbled into altercations between them and deserve credit for that. OPG is dealing with their issue and that is great now but I wanted to speak as a person who's been there for HAF. They have ALREADY shown some real self-control (despite other cases where they didn't) as they started out on the bottom of this and were sandbagged before they even had a chance to build a rep.

The admins have been making real efforts to stop older players from using their seeming status to excuse bad play and I absolutely applaud them in it. My suggestion is judge HAF after this by light of what they are doing then--not by what seems to have transpired before.

With all due respect. I recognise the ultimate authority of the Admins, any sanction that gets flown across this part of the forums, any decission you make and I'll respect this one. I will however question it.

I humbly apologise on my behalf if anyone got incited to brake the rules due to my, I quote "dumb idea". It was however not a direct order, it was a discussion.

I think this is taking things a bit to far, heck, If i remember what all I said over skype, by server and forum rules you can bann me for life, I hope this will not serve as a precedent for banning people, It's the equivilent of me sayin to my mates: "Say all here gathered we should rob a bank." and then in a few weeks two of them rob a bank. Police comes to my door,... You said they should rob a bank, you are coming downtown for 7 years! Say goodbye to your GF.

I am worried, where can I use my freedom in selection of words? Ideas? I discuss modding in the dev chat all the time, should i be sancitoned for moding aswell? Just today i said... to Ross:

Here sanction me for inciting moding aswell. Anyone who ever watched any of the corsair spamm chats knows a lot get said and very little gets done, do you think it's right to sanction people for discussing rule braking?

If so, I have no problem with that, I accept the punishment, but please make this a server rule, or actually a Skype rule, I guess it's ok to bann someone who makes it clear throu skype that he's gonna hack the server. :(I am a tad disapointed thou. Where am i suppose to vent my things? On a private venting chat? If it was my choice OPG chat would be strictly inRP, but it's not, it's OOC, sometimes it's out of game, and most of the time plain spamm.

So while I highly disagree with the location of the offense (Does skype fall in to admin juridistiction now aswell?), I'll respect the punishment. I hope i wasn't to long or to flaming, not a nice way to get sanctioned...:(

P.S.: For what it's worth I also helped them HAF quite a lot, over skype, trying to negotiate peace, so sanctioning me for trying to stage sanctions upon them, is well hmm bizare.

Well, as is obvious by the screenshots posted by Grimly, I'm the player Karolis tried to set up for a sanction. I'll say no more about the matter - I've spoken with Grimly regarding Karolis' punishment both by the admins and within the OPG - I'm satisfied. Hope he learns a lesson from this.

Oh, one more thing - regarding Grimly's comment:

Karolis tried to pull his little trick while I was fighting six HAF, all by my lonesome. I had absolutely no time to check his specs, I simply shot at what I erroneously believed to be a further incoming enemy. I did indeed apologize for this.

...besides, frankly, I always kill OPG that fast.:P

OK Folks, I don't know how many times lately I've seen the following words: either "I know Im not supposed to post here" or "I don't know if Im allowed to post here" in the 'player sanction' threads. Well the answer is, NO you are not supposed to post there. The following is a list of people who are allowed to post in a sanction thread.

* Admins
* Player being sanctioned
* Player that reported the violation
* Direct witnesses to the violation
* Faction leader of the player being sanctioned

All other posts will now be deleted on sight. No more "This player has done this to me before, what a jerk." No more "Good job admins," trust me they dont need or want the accolades. All these posts tend to due is make somebody angry and nice little flame wars ensue.
