Aland Defense Force Security Assured, Neutrality Guaranteed
Introduction
The Aland Defense Force was an initiative started by some of the local miners at Aland Shipyard in response to the growing presence of the Corsairs, as well the increase of Bretonian and Rheinland corporate activity in the Omega systems. With Freistadt firmly surrounded by the hand of Rheinland, including her corporations, Aland stood alone relatively speaking. A dedicated task force was needed to ensure the station's continued operation.
Founded in 683 A.S., the Aland Defense Force then comprised of a meager squadron of hotshot pilots occasionally dispatched to ward off Corsair raiders. Nearly a century and a half later it has evolved into a small paramilitary arm of the IMG, utilizing technology from their allies and their own conjured schematics. Capital vessels serviced by the station's drydocks make up but a portion of the defense force, most of it still populated by experienced defensive wings operated by veterans. It is because of the force that Aland stands, and because of the force that Aland will always persevere.
Tactics
The Defense Force operates on a strictly defensive system of ethics and planning. Never offensive, so as to not waste resources. Most ships in the Defense Force will rarely if ever leave Aland's defensive grid, and focus primarily on the security around the station. Regulation of the trade lane route between Omega-7 and Freeport 1 is a routine operation, and never out of the norm for pilots, even if it means dealing with Guild-considered contraband.
Due to the recent Bretonian declaration of annexation on Aland, the Defense Force's modus operandi has shifted somewhat. While normally the militaries of the Houses would be considered neutral, the Armed Forces are not welcome near Aland, and thus will be discouraged to leave the area. Due to the Guild's long standing ideal of stubborn neutrality, a warning will usually be given, unless there is reason not to give one. Bretonian corporations are also not welcome, and will be forced to leave.

Recruitment
The recruitment and hiring of plucky and noble individuals is an ongoing process, and though the Defense Force is staffed, more hands are always welcome. Applications can be sent to this address, or to any ADF personnel in-space. A better, more independent future, the Aland Defense Force is the hand to make the move.

I was actually thinking of setting up something similar myself, though for individual Zoner installations and in particular for Omicron Theta in case of apocalypse (I would've left the other installations to copycats meant to be set up by others). I figured that, with the near-total loss of Omega-49, some Zoners would've been like "Never again" and take pre-emptive measures.
