Another 'cannot connect to multiplayer' victim

Hey guys, sorry to bring this issue up again, im sure youve heard it a thousand times. I was going to carry on an already existing thread but, i couldnt bring myself to face the torrent of bad grammar that I was following on.

I'll keep this short and sweet. One slight 'issue', i havent played disco since 4.79 so... I cant really say that its worked in the past beacuse the past was so bloody long ago... anyway...

installed FL, go to play multiplayer, go into LAN, disco is there, i go to connect and get the "sorry, cant connect, server must have disconnected or your net is ****ed" message. I can play SP, but getting online is the issue.


I've tried, pretty much everything thats been recommended...

Uninstalled AVG, turned off all firewalls I can find (windows, router (BT home hub btw), etc etc),reinstalled FL, reinstalled 4.84 numerous times, reinstalled FLMM numerous times, ran FL as admin, ran FL in win2000 compatability, rebooted router, pinged the server and traced route (both work fine as far as I can tell), downloaded various peices of software... pretty much all that is suggested. The server isn't full and my net is working fine, I cannot see any reason why it shouldnt let me play.


I am running vista and direct X 10. 3gb ram and nvidea geforce 8600GT.




Any solutions?

You sure you can ping us, because we can't ping you, and the tracert only gets to your local network.
Still something on your end old chap ... Back to the anti-virus/firewall/router plan again I'm afraid.

yeah? hmmmm.... well, at least it tells me its not a get rid of vista job...

Have you tried bypassing your router and connecting straight into the modem? If that works, it means there's a firewall on your router blocking the port.

For Hoodlum - tried to PM you but your box is full?

wondering if you could help me again. you said you couldnt reach my computer before when you last tried to ping me. Although id forwarded the ports, my router firewall was still on selective (not that it should matter with fowarded ports but whatever...). I've disabled it and was wondering if you could see if you can reach my pc this time.


im running out of ideas as to what the problem could be. I bought a new copy of FL and after installing this ive been able to get on disco for a little bit. I have to keep hitting 'connect' on the server page about 20 times but it eventually lets me in for a 10-15 minute session. after that it flashes the red disconnected symbol and i cant get back in the server for about an hour. I can play every other game that i want to online, just not FL... but thats a different issue for a different time.


But yeah, ill leave the ports open till about midnight, if you get a chance, much appreciated. if not, no worrys. Just hope that you read this..........

i dont understand how a tracert works, what does this mean? should i be ringing bt?
