[COMBAT INTELLIGENCE]
AFTER ACTION REPORT: Hessian advance into New Berlin
Senior staff of the Büro,
Today we responded to an emergency distress signal sent by Rheinland Military ships in the proximity of Planet New Berlin, reporting a large hostile force approaching the planet and it's nearby stations. Upon arrival, was met with other BDM ships such as BDM|U-95 and the Derfflinger capital ship, Military vessels such as the RNC-Sleipnir and an officer of the Military, [RM]Fl-Felix.Brom.
We did not have much time to organize our formation, before the order was given to advance towards the enemy. It appeared that Hessian forces opted to bring a large force of capital ships, with the intent to damage nearby infrastructure, destroy Rheinland ships and free workers in order to rescue them from "tyranny". These ships were detected on the scanner under various identifiers, such as R\-Valgaldr, R\-Belagerung, R\-Verfulgerin, R\-Thorkell, along with some smaller escorts of their allies.
Victory was not as swift as I had initially hoped, our capitals suffered at the hands of these Hessians, who seemed to be hardened veterans and worked together to quickly dismantle any formation we had and gradually worked down their shields and armour. At first, it seemed like the Hessians had managed to outgun and outmanoeuvre our capital forces, inflicting two heavy blows and the destruction of some of our allies, however the tide eventually turned, and through additional reinforcements arriving to the distress calls they were gradually beaten back, some suffering catastrophic explosions, whilst some of the more maneuverable vessels managed to escape the battlefield.
I had hoped this may be a lesson to them that they cannot come this close to Rheinland infrastructure without suffering extensive losses, but I fear the opposite may happen, and this may only embolden them to try such an advance once again, utilizing knowledge from this engagement.
I trust that this report is useful and may be used to help guide us and our allies' intelligence on the Red Hessian threat that is lurking.
