Dusty Lens Quick Guide to Mining in 4.85


Mining has undergone a significant overhaul for this latest mod, which will be adapted as we move through the open beta. As the system relies upon FL Hook to operate we can alter values as we progress.

1) Mining lasers are a new item added to the game, these will increase your mining yield. Simply having them mounted is not sufficient, you must actually use them.

2) The Mining Ship now provides an additional bonus to mining yields.
  • Exception being the CSV, Collector, Junker Salvager and ALG Mover, which all now grant a bonus to scrap collection.
3) Proper Tag and ID now provide an additional bonus to mining yields. ID must be mounted and the IFF/Tag cannot simply be green. It must be flashing on your status bar for the bonus to be activated. Each Tag/ID only applies a bonus to its specific resources:

So only with the proper ship, gun, tag and ID will you get the full bonus.
  1. 1) The Mining Ship provides an 80% yield bonus.
  2. 1.5) The ALG mover/CSV/Collector yield 20%.
  3. 2) The Mining Laser yields an additional 20%
  4. 3) The proper ID and TAG provide 15% each.
Numbers are subject to change.

The mining laser can be found on virtually any border world freeport. That is its most common location.

ID and Resource Bonus List:
  • ALG: Scrap Metal
  • BMM: Hydrocarbons, Beryllium, Gold and Niobium.
  • Corsairs: Artifacts
  • Cryer: Alien Organisms.
  • Daumann: Diamonds, Copper and Hydrocarbons
  • Deep Space Engineering: Silver and Copper.
  • Hessians: Diamonds
  • IMG: Gold, Beryllium, Niobium, Silver and Cobalt
  • Junkers: Scrap Metal
  • Kruger: Diamonds, Silver and Cobalt
  • Mollies: Gold
  • Outcasts: Alien Organisms.
  • Xenos: Silver and Copper.

  • Miner ID/No IFF: Alien Organisms and Scrap Metal.
