The Interstellar Chamber of Commerce is pleased to bring to the commercial interests of Sirius a significant step in the economic progress of the Houses : a comprehensive guide to the commodities and trade routes that are the backbone of the Houses' respective economies.

In this war-torn era, efficient and profitable transactions are essential to the survival of both the House governments, and the citizens and corporate firms that are the foundation of our great civilizations.

In the days to come, The Interstellar Chamber of Commerce will make available to all interested parties trade circuits designed to build the economies of the Houses, support the needs of their citizens, and thus advance the cause of civilization for generations to come.

News Bulletin

Penetrating Machines, Inc. (PMI), a Liberty based company specializing in the manufacture of mining equipment used in high intensity, hostile environment extraction operations, released a press statement today acknowledging the defects in its current production run. The defects were first reported last week by mining operations at Planet Huron in the Ontario system, where PMI had an exclusive supply contract supporting the platinum mining operations conducted from Toronto Station in the planet's orbit. Platinum mining all but came to a halt as the thousands of PMI ore extractors began malfunctioning.

The Operations Executive aboard Toronto Station issued the following statement :
Quote:Due to the utter failure of PMI to supply effective equipment according to its contract, we have had no choice but to exercise the default clause in its contract and file claims for damages in Los Angeles District Court.
We are in the process of negotiating a new contract with a reputable supplier for replacement mining machinery, but until a contract comes into effect, Toronto Station will pay top prices to any merchant who delivers mining machinery to the station.

Executives at BMM and Samura Industries reportedly made frantic calls to Toronto Station, concerned about impending platinum deliveries scheduled to depart from Toronto and destined for their facilities at Thames Outpost and Osaka Storage. Platinum is heavily used by both Bretonia and Kusari in various industrial applications that are central to their economic well-being. Toronto Station has reported that its platinum stockpile is sufficient to meet all current delivery schedules for several weeks, after which mining operations are expected to resume normally.

The embargo against Rheinland has caused vast shipments of platinum that were formerly destined for Leipzig Station's industrial operation to instead remain in storage at Toronto, creating a surplus that may now be used to meet demand in Kusari and Bretonia.

James Browrimple, a noted economist at Denver's Eyrie University, and self-proclaimed cynic, mused in a published analysis of the situation released today that the Toronto mining operation had been suffering badly due to its inability to deliver platinum to Leipzig Station, despite Daumann's high priced incentives to violate the embargo.

He wrote, in part, "An 'equipment crisis' that forces them to shut down mining operations means they can sell off their surplus supply, and forgo paying the miners at the same time. This 'crisis' is actually a windfall for the operators of the facility. No doubt many of the transports bringing new mining machinery to Toronto will be quietly owned by relatives and friends of Toronto's executives and managers. I expect the Xenos to enjoy a boost in recruitment from among those furloughed miners."

Whatever the motivations and causes of these events, there is no doubt that transporting mining machinery to Toronto, and platinum from Toronto to Thames and Osaka just became the transaction of choice for many of Liberty's freelance cargo haulers.

In other news, we have received word from the Bounty Hunters Guild of an impending announcement from the Guild that an unnamed source speaking on condition of anonymity described as so important and awe-inspiring that he "lacked the words to adequately describe it", at which point the anonymous source terminated the transmission.

Stay tuned for further breaking news bulletins.

News Update

An unnamed source within the Guild revealed the following in an interview with our commerce correspondent only minutes ago:

Quote:Look, you ain't seen me, right? Anyway, I can't tell you everything, but I can tell you that the Bounty Hunters Guild has been working on a building a base way out in the Edgeworlds. Seems to be set to become a headquarters for all sorts of research and exploration.

The Guild is already negotiating for trade ships to get the place up and running. Anyone who can make it out to the asteroid field in Omicron Delta is guaranteed a fine reward. Plus, from what I hear, there's plenty of commodities being sold on the bases out there that are in huge demand in the Houses. You know that Iridium stuff? It's more plentiful than water out there! You can mine it or buy it cheap at Freeport 11.

There's all sorts of hazards to be overcome - not least is the blue-devils themselves - the Nomads. They'd eat you soon as look at you. Or worse! But take it from me - any freelancer with the guts could retire after a single round trip out there.

So it appears that the Guild has established a forward operating base that will permit a more permanent presence in the remote Nomad systems, facilitating the exploration of Nomad space in search of alien artifacts and technologies that can be found there

The new base, Dabadoru Station, lies hidden in a remote asteroid field in Omicron Delta.

Outfitting and stockpiling this new facility is of immediate importance. As such, demand had created abnormally high prices for certain commodities, chiefly MOX, Light Arms, Deuterium, Synth Paste, Nuclear Devices, Pharmaceuticals and Oxygen. Already, small fortunes have been made by those daring enough to haul goods to the remote station.

The mining of certain minerals in the system and commodity prices at Freeport 11 mean that the return trip out has become equally lucrative.

At a special session in Omega 56, the Guild Council undertook to deploy all available resources to secure the temporary increase in commercial traffic into the area. However, all trade ships should exercise extreme caution on the hazardous and potentially fatal route. The vilest criminal elements in all Sirius are known to operate in the systems. Rumours of Nomad ships attacking and sucking out the brains of hapless traders are being whispered in the bars of the Freeports throughout the Omicrons.

Lawful trade ships and entrepreneurial freelance traders are guaranteed massive profits, but be advised these inflated prices will not last forever.
