Whats up guys? You won.

Ever heard of being humble in victory? And digging at BAF tactics? Why is this neccessary?

Not complaining about the numbers, I was kudosing BAF members for sticking with what felt futile most of the event. Past events have seen people give up due to events being restarted etc, I am glad we stuck to the end, we even started making ground during the latter stages.

It was still a fun event and its good to see so many people participating.

Dude, even with those numbers we BARELY did it.

If we had been short 2-3 caps, we wouldn't had a chance at all to do it in time. We lost a few players due to constant server crashes, so we were already a few cruisers/BCs down by the end. We killed the last escort 3-5 minutes after respawns were off and we only had a few BCs left. If we had 2-3 BC less from the start, bretonia would have won.

Let that sink in, the event was in favor of Bretonia, from the start. Despite a possibly 2.5x advantage in manpower, we barely made it inside the framework of the event.

Remember, if just ONE escort made it (regardless of how much HP it had) - coalition would have lost.

Stop complaining about the numbers. It was a ridiculously close call. After all, even with all those snubs, if we had lost our caps, we would NEVER been able to kill those targets in time. You need 3-4 bombers to match a single BC in terms of DPS.

If anything, there were two moments where bretonia could have swung the event.

In the opening, BAF completely blew it. They were uncoordinated, badly positioned, and seemingly unaware of their surroundings. They got caught with their pants down, and were steamrolled almost twice in a row before we started shooting Escort 1 (our first target).

As we were told to shoot the stirling first, we moved our fleet. At that moment, BAF kept pressuring ONLY the Tempest Carrier.... Our main DPS force was the BCs. You kept focusing on the carrier and one BC, rather then just pummel all the BCs shooting the targets.

If BAF had focused on breaking down the ships shooting the Stirling and its escorts, rather then PVP with CAU 8 Carriers that take forever to kill, they would have severely broken our DPS and we would never made it in time.

We saw this at the tail end, before Escort 2 died. We lost a lot of caps, FAST, because after we defeated Escort 1, BAF started properly pressuring ALL the DPS'ers, and slowly ground them down. It is what you should have done from the beginning.

Also, BAF loadouts were terrible, all you need to do is just do damage, but most of you used prims. Your setups should have been 3-4x pulse to rip our shields off ASAP then pummel us with dual mortar or cerbs. Our BCr's where mostly stationairy in order to land our FWGs (main source of DPS). It would be easy to fling mortars and pulses from 3k+ whilst you get closer to use cerbs or even secondaries if need be. Prims are horribly inefficient at quickly killing a target. They just drain your core and reduce your DPS.

This event, in hindsight, its not as much of a coalition win, but rather It is a BAF LOSS.

BAF simply didnt have a plan, the proper setups, or a functioning leadership able to focus on the task at hand - saving ONE target within an hour. It was doable.

DUDE, really.... Your explanation wasn't needed, I mean, I enjoyed the read. It was fun and it's over. You guys won! Big Kudos!

A lot of effort was invested in that wall of text and that's commendable, but it would have been even handier if equal dedication was given to the math it is about.

Not trying to say it wasn't doable, but I believe the cap-related math there is wrong. I can do a wall of text on it, too, but sadly I am not as diligent as this good man Prysin and I will only do it if he doesn't believe me and asks me to.

In relation to the event type, I'll still be suggesting alternative tactics!

I picture a similar situation, but instead let this Bretonian battlegroup have a few ships spread out all over the system near the entry points. Well, I suppose a the Coalition win here means, they should get some static caps in the system at least by the jumphole on their side.

And when Bretonia's new battleship gets there (which I assume was the real point of sacrificing Stirling) give it a couple of flanking cruisers and set them all up to be much stronger for a more long term event style. Make them like super POB's, a billion HP for a battleship, purposely stretch it out so it might take a few days.

Think of it this way, it might help avoid crashes to split up the battles a bit, and let them form naturally around the option to attack the target static ships. Which might still raise activity over a longer period. Activity may go up in general, not just for a couple of hours every so often (weeks).

Also if Coalition side has something to defend it means they cant always only be on the offensive and it would be a bit more balanced. Then I suppose whoever loses the caps first might have their presence diminished over long term. But I always say a lost ship isnt the end, just takes a bit for another to come up behind it. I'd see it fair though that it take a certain time, and if Coalition side knocked out Bret static caps, they get to try to hold until reinforcements come to challenge. oh look, you're having a space war in Disco!

Recently just observing natural POB sieges like in Omicron Tau, it proves it still works! People do still organize without advanced scheduling or registrations to go on live attacks! I can only think, if we had static caps that were like POB's in strength, there would be more action like that, on top of the normal stuff, on a daily basis! A DAILY BASIS. Not to mention, if we gave the areas with active factions actual military ship targets to worry about, actual POB's would become lower priority targets.

I see the Confederal forces entering Tau pretty easy, but why isnt there an NPC static OC dread waiting at the mouth of the minifield? A mortal cap that they'd have knock out to go through first. OF's should be able to request they have this stuff in the right places as they see fit, and use them to make it so to get into your space, invaders at least should have to take out a border ship or something, at least to slow things down.

And of course, if we set up these bases (especially in Exeter's case) at least the battleships to buy either ammo of some kind or medical supplies, each battle becomes a supply event. Imagine that throughout all of these sieges transports were also trying to slip in and out of the warzone to bring supplies in (on a temp money making route). They might bring escorts, etc.

Last point, is if we did longer term battle situations, if balance seems it could still be off, or a side might have trouble finding defenders, let them hire Freelancers or other mercs to fill the gap. Just has to be someone already on their BB's, or they can just do some one time RP for a contract.
