Sean woke with a start, his room was rattling, and a dull thumping was filling the air. "Oh no" he groaned while pulling himself out of his bunk and standing up in his rather small bedroom he exhaled laboriously before taking two steps and settling down into his work station. Groggily he tapped away at the keyboard before pulling up the ship's internal messaging service. The rather familiar voice of Shipmaster Blake filled the room. ”GOOOOD morning shipmates. We are on day 22 of our survey of the Omega 2 system. I wanted to take a moment to remind everyone to be extra cautious...” Sean started to fast forward through the first part of the daily briefing before stopping after a moment and resuming the video. ”...finally remember that tomorrow at 0500 the mortar teams will be blasting away at a rather promising formation in orbit of the Leisi Protoplanet. Thanks for tuning in, remember safety...” Sean again paused the video. The dull thumping filling the room once more.

The noise of the ship was one of many transitions that Sean had undergone after leaving his administration position at Freeport 9. He now was aboard the Research and Survey Vessel Glomar Explorer, affectionately referred to as “The Wedge”. Owing to its appearance. She was originally stationed in the rather backwater system of Omega 47 and Sean had expected to pass his days overlooking samples of the nearby Walker Nebula. The reality of the now stable connection to the Omega 2 system nearby had changed the dream of a quiet day studying samples to a rather harsh reality of bloody corporate warfare. They had entered the battlefield less than a month ago, It would be oddly artistic, the twisted wreckage slowly dancing in orbit of the cooling star, if not for the hundreds dead within.

Sean sighed heavily and looked at the clock above his desk before muttering under his breath, "At least the dining hall never closes." again tapping on the keypad in front of him he settled back in his chair as he ordered an early breakfast. With a meal on its way Sean opened the latest set of delivered data on freshly collected diamond dust. He began to type away on the keypad.

Asteroid 7895-KF is located in an extreme parabolic orbit around its host, the Salme Protoplanet. After an analysis of the field as a whole this particular asteroid was found to share the same angular momentum of 297 other Type A objects and was chosen as a candidate to represent all objects in grid 1189-2 by 2268.

After demolition of 7895-KF the remaining fragments were fully surveyed at 8 subsites with the following breakdown of minerals found included below. This data indicates that the field has a usability of at least 40% and while not sufficient enough to warrant immediate exploitation but should still be considered as a secondary site after the primary is depleted.
