RECIPIENT: The Unioners CARBON COPY: - SENDER: Adelaide Bessette, Montluc Advanced Engineering SUBJECT: Offer of cooperation
Mesdames et messieurs,
I am Adelaide Bessette, PR Manager of Montluc Advanced Engineering Inc. Recently one of our scouts, Monsieur Emile Lavoisier, contacted one of your people near planet Stuttgart. The character of the interaction and its contents prompted us to consider reaching out to you with an offer of cooperation.
Firstly allow me to give a brief overview of what MAE is. Our company was established in Languedoc during the period of a provisional government in Gallia following the War. However, our political activity in Languedoc directed at the system’s autonomy and benefit of the people led to conflict with the corrupt and hypocritical government of the Confederacy of Gallia, resulting in our exodus from the space of Gallia. Nowadays, we reside on Freeport 6, free from the legislation of any House.
Our company specializes in engineering, as you might tell from the name itself. More specifically, we construct space vessels, space installations, carry out groundworks with the erection of buildings and fortifications and up to city-panning, and manufacture smaller goods in the sphere of robotics, personal armaments, and household devices. At times we also manufacture military equipment if there is a demand. The company is chaired by Monsieur Fabian Montluc, baron, chevalier de Roi.
The Alster Union specializing in ship construction as well, we believe we can cooperate in this field. Namely, we would be interested in discussing the possibility of the conclusion of the Distribution Rights contract, allowing the Union to serve a licensed retailer of MAE-produced ships and other production, should you show interest in this cooperation. We are also open to other forms of cooperation, and also obtaining a license for the distribution of UN production.
Your pilot indicated that the UN would consider cooperation if MAE proved the high standards of working conditions for our employees. In regard to this, I can assure that our employees get the best treatment available on the market and are entitled to the following:
Paid leave for 30 days annually that is cumulative;
Fully paid maternal leave for 180 days with the possibility of extension for an additional 180 days;
Focial security and health insurance, covering 100% of expenses unless the damage sustained is the fault of the employee himself;
8-hours working day. Overwork is paid 200% normal rate and is limited to 80 hours per month;
Competitive salary that attracts the best minds of Gallia + 13th salary as a bonus every year;
Plentiful pension and 1-time leaving bonus in the amount of 5 years salary;
Free legal consultation and protection in case of any legal disputes;
Excellent working conditions with recreation rooms. Menial tasks are automatized to the maximum to allow the employees to concentrate on creative work;
Corporate schools, hospitals, and apartments offered at special discounts.
If you are more interested in the details, we are ready to provide a more thorough analysis of our working conditions, yet I hope the list above should suffice. Mind, that when our company was threatened by the Confederates, no staff member or their family members were left behind. We value our human resources the most as they make what is known as MAE.
On the side note, we would also extend our interest in establishing closer relations with the Empire of Rheinland which we see to be in the situation similar to the Kingdom of Gallia during its conflict with the republicans of the Conseil. MAE being led by a nobleman and employing many supporters of the old, legitimate Royal regime in Gallia, we believe we have much more in common with the imperialists in Rheinland, more especially given the current political situation. In this regard, we would kindly ask the Alster Union, should the latter show interest in cooperation with us, to lobby us before the Imperial Court for our company to have access to the market of the legitimate Rheinland Empire, and to develop the relations of friendship and understanding.
Distributors, aye? You have come to the right buyer, Montluc.
My men have spoken to yours. You were respectful. That goes far in securing a contract. Hard figures go further. We are especially impressed by Montluc's dedication to providing overtime pay for your employees. Many of our Rheinlandic industries could learn from you.
We are prepared to lobby on your behalf. Whilst some like to spread the belief that the Empire does not entertain foreign industry, the truth is that we do not tolerate industry that engages in tax evasion, manipulation of the political class, or extortion of their working class employees. Our preconditions for exporting any speculative expansion of MAE into Rheinland, is that you employ, and provide training to, Rheinlanders, whilst operating in Rheinland, within reason.
The ship in the right display pane is hull X-31 Caesar, known to your language as Project Midnight. It was the vessel of conveyance belonging to a former agent of the Gallic Royal Intelligence Services who conducted operations in Rheinland during the time of the Gallic Crown. The agent was embedded within the Unioner production yards on Pacifica Base, but was never able to report his experiments back. As you can see, the vessel has been re-skinned with Sirian materials, along with much of its avionics altered. As the Gallic Crown's loyalists are now cut off from the sources of production for the materiel of your vessels, you will, at some point, resort to using Sirian equipment to maintain your vessels. Our data will be able to cut several years off functionality experiments for the Royalists - at least as far as your fighter craft are concerned. Commit to a mutually useful relationship, aid the empire and the Unioners, and we will turn Project Midnight's analytics over to the Gallic Crown.
The Unioners hope to aid in the development of domestic infrastructure and humanitarian programs that will win the Emperor's favour for the trade unions - and, in turn, keep Imperial Shipping on our side, rather than against us. Assist us in this cause, and we will assist you in turn. As of right now, we have a procurement desire for Gallic medical equipment, avionics, and hypoentertainment systems. Devices that will measurably increase the wealthfare of the people. Help us in this endeavour and I will speak to the royal court over the possibility of granting Montluc offices in one of our outlying systems. We are steadily applying pressure on Libertonian corporations that happen to resist our reforms - there will be vacancies. Equally, the Empire will need an ally to push the Red Hessian threat out of Cologne, now that the Zurich gate has been established. The last problem Gallia needs is the red menace, who are so politically draconian they make Maquis look like creche inmates. I would wager that is a sentiment both you and your enemies in the more moderate parts of the Gallic Republic would agree on.
Contact me again once you have delivered ten thousand units of Gallic entertainment systems, Gallic medical goods, and Gallic plastics, to Planet Hamburg. The Harbourmaster is a friend of the Union - he will ensure that the supplies get to where they need to go.

RECIPIENT: Corin Frei, the Unioners SENDER: Adelaide Bessette, Montluc Advanced Engineering LOCATION: Freeport 6, Tau-29 ENCRYPTION:High SUBJECT: The terms of the deal have changed
Monsieur Frei,
It is my pleasure to make acquaintance with such a famous person as yourself.
It appears that while your reply was pending some circumstances have changed. MAE has reached a mutually profitable deal with DHC regarding the exclusive distribution rights of MAE vessels in the Rheinland Empire. Due to the terms of the contract, no other party within the Empire of Rheinland can obtain distribution rights on MAE products unless the contract in question is terminated. Because of this, we no longer can offer distribution rights to the Unioners. If the Unioners are interested in procuring MAE-produced ships, nevertheless, you are still welcome to do so from us or from our licenced distributor, DHC.
There is another point of misunderstanding, Monsieur Frei. MAE has never sought any space installations within the Empire of Rheinland for itself. Our resources would be spread thin and make it complicated to operate. This is one of the reasons why we seek distribution agreements rather then try to sell our products ourselves in foreign space. We appreciate your initiative to vouch for us to gain offices within the Empire, however that would not be necessary.
MAE is still interested in cooperating with the Unioners despite the change of circumstances. Namely, we are interested in renting the production capabilities of a shipyard, be it Aland or other installation, for construction of our bigger vessels, as well as in your lobbying to the imperial court. However, for us to proceed in this direction we need to be sure that your side is capable of doing what lobbying is supposed to do. If the esteemed UN side can show us tangible results and, for example, establish a secure communication channel for MAE with the Imperial Government of Rheinland - we would consider such a move as promising and carry out our part of the deal, the delivery of aforementioned goods to Planet Hamburg.
As for “Lynx” - the cooperation on this matter will depend on the outcomes of the terms discussed above. The Gallic side is usually very protective of its military technologies and we need to see tangible benefits in cooperation to make a step in assisting repairing and, de facto, giving our military technology to a party in Sirius.
I hope you understand our terms which are meant as a precaution and not disrespect to esteemed Unioners.
