DSE Bretonia Representatives,

Hello there! A pleasure to meet you.

I have been informed by the Bretonian Government to contact you in regard to a particular matter. The Government has entrusted me with the liquidation of an asset which has fallen to it as a result of dereliction. This particular base is Brighton Business Concourse, located near one of your installations near Belvedere, or the Southampton wreck.

The base was in a terrible state, however with some help from Bowex, among others, supplies were spoon-fed to the base, and it is now in good repair. Furthermore, due to increased risk to the system by terrorists with big ships, defensive placements have also been set up.

Now, the entrepreneur in me tells me to put the base on the open market, and take only the highest bidder. However, I have been informed that I should look with favor to Liberty bidders for the base, in light of our... Relationship.

DSE also is of great help to rebuild our infrastructure, and for my own operation in Omega-3, your services to assist my base upgrade project, as well as other projects, such as the shipyard project in Cambridge, currently ongoing, may be part-payment for the base which I hope to sell you today.

Long background aside, are you interested? Despite the war, the base is quite remarkable in both size and functionality.

Sincerely,
Professor Arthur Morrison, Cambridge University & BMM R&D Division

Professor Morrison,

This is an unexpected but delightful connect. I am well aware of your experience and intellectual 'pedigree'. Your reputation precedes you.

Thank you so much for your compliments regarding ventures in Omega 3 and Fenland shipyard. DSE are pleased to be of service. Indeed we are fortunate to have hired redundant BMM workers from Southampton Shipyard and used their excellent skills and talents to good effect.

DSE) Bretonia Division is well aware of Brighton Business Concourse. It has been a rather neglected facility, and I had tried to contact the owners in the past to lease space in BBC rather than deploy one of our prefabricated "Veltman Specials" to dismantle Southampton. Alas trying to contact the owner was beyond us. It is a Samura enterprise and one would suggest the wars against Gallia and now the Enclave have put them off venturing into New London. One would not blame them.

In regards BBC we are interested. There is a lot of work available for Deep Space Engineering in Bretonia hence we have a dedicated division in Bretonia to enable us to complete the contracts we have taken up. Currently Old Trafford has been our HQ but as work dries up after the Jump gate and trade lanes to Newcastle are constructed it will no longer be suitable as an HQ. It is to be noted that our contract to dismantle Southampton will soon end and we can mothball Veltman Smelter and a new HQ is required. BBC would do it for us.

Our thinking, if purchasing BBC, would be to rename it. We do choose to name our Bretonian bases of operations after historic places in keeping with the named systems. Old Trafford in Manchester, Dorset in Poole. For New London we are thinking Crystal Palace, or Twickenham.

This purchase would be the single largest investment in Bretonia by DSE) and shows our intent to be a vital part of Bretonia's construction efforts for the long term. There may well be opportunity for DSE to tender for the new shipyard to replace Southampton, if that goes ahead.

All is speculation, Professor, until we agree on a price and accept the transfer of ownership. This can be in "cash and kind" (credits or services). If you are ready to submit a price, in confidence of course due to commercial sensitivity, I will discuss this with our directors.

Sincere Regards

Cliff Hunter

DSE Bretonia Representative Hunter,

Hello there! A pleasure to make your acquaintance.

Yes, yes! I am glad you are interested, very glad. I had feared I would need to spend hours and hours and hours and possibly even more hours looking for a buyer, then days and days and, well, you get the idea, to hash out an agreement.

I hope to resolve this as quickly as possible, the people on Nottingham cannot wait for the development they deserve.

Now, the price. I am informed that the minimum fee for a Core 4 modular base, which Brighton is, would be, regardless of market conditions, in the range of 4 billion credits. Should the market be buoyant, and buyers plenty, this rate would obviously inflate anywhere between 5 and 6 billion credits.

Now as mentioned we are grateful for the efforts of DSE in Bretonia, and we are indeed hoping for your services elsewhere. And being honest, the state of the Bretonian economy is not so great. Therefore, my proposal to you is this;
  • £3,500,000,000 in cash,
  • £500,000,000 in services rendered to Medway Dock, located in Omega-3, for the upgrade of the base.
This would consist of;
  • 100,000 units of Industrial Hardware
  • 40,000 units of High Performance Alloys, and,
  • a portion of 10,000 of the total 40,000 Optronic Arrays required.
All other components will be sourced locally, and the remaining 30,000 Optronic Arrays will be sourced openly.
The open sourcing of the remaining 30,000 Optronic Arrays DSE may bid for naturally, in which case a further 100,000,000 credits will be deducted from the purchase of the base.

I feel this is a very reasonable offer given in good faith, and I hope you do not push me any further.

Sincerely,
Professor Arthur Morrison, Cambridge University & BMM R&D Division

Professor Morrison,

Thank you for your quick response. I believe we are well on the way to a deal. I don't think the price required is excessive, but I have yet to convince the Board of Directors that it would be value for money.

There are funds enough available for capital purchases from DSE)'s finance group, but because of the need to replenish those funds it is the responsibility of the director responsible (in this case, myself) to propose a reimbursement action plan.

The Profit and Loss projections mean we would need to raise 1.2billion Sirius Credits through new contract payments or subsidiary activities (sale of plant, redundancies, profitable "back-loads", increased ship sales).
1.We are tendering for more contracts, but profit is not realised until the contract is finished.
2.Redundancies is not viable given our increasing need of staff.
3. Profit from ship sales are marginal given the tight market.
4.Backload a decent VAP (Value added product) with our transport vessels.

To make this work, Professor, it would require some flexibility on BMM's part. Would BMM be willing to supply high resale valued raw Ore (Gold, Cobalt, etc) at cost to yourselves, so DSE) Bretonia can maximise sales on its transport routes?
Rough estimations, over a 6 month period, would see a need of 200,000 units of a variety of ores to balance our books.

If a contract to supply 200,000 raw ores at cost is agreeable, to BMM, then I can authorise payment for the purchase of BBC be made almost immediately. Subject to final approval from our board.

A reduction of 100,000,000SC off the sale price for supply of 30,000 Optronic Arrays would sweeten the deal and is expected.

Do we have a deal, Professor Morrison?

Sincere Regards

DSE Bretonia Representative Hunter,

This is excellent, excellent!

As you may well know, ore is our lifeblood, and Medway Dock, despite its responsibility as a manufacturer of special equipment, weapons, and generally supporting of operations of the strategically important Planet Nottingham, also contains sufficient storage space for locally mined cobalt ore.

Supply and demand fluctuates, and our stocks can run dry on occasion, but rest assured, we will get you your ore.

And yes, it will be supplied at cost!

I feel we have an accord, Mr. Hunter, and that makes me happy, very happy.

Sincerely,
Professor Arthur Morrison, Cambridge University & BMM R&D Division

Professor Morrison,

We have a deal.

DSE) Bretonia would be keen to start the transfer of ownership and would request action appropriate.

IT IS AGREED: DSE) Bretonia Division will purchase the facility called Brighton Business Concourse (BBC) for:
  • $3.400.000.000 Sirius Credits
    40,000 Optronic Arrays
    100,000 units of Industrial Hardware
40,000 units of High Performance Alloys
It IS AGREED: Over a 6 month period, starting with the handover of BBC, Cambridge University & BMM R&D Division would supply/make available to DSE) Bretonia Division 200,000 units of a variety of high value raw ores. Details to be worked out at a later date post sale.

Professor, subject to accepting our intent to purchase, DSE) Bretonia Division will immediately transfer SC 3.400,000,000$ into Cambridge University & BMM R&D Division bank account/s. Naturally we would need to know where to send the payment/s.

On receipt of said payment, Cambridge University & BMM R&D Division will send the master password direct to my personal coms.

Congratulations Professor. We trust the University will invest the profits from BBC wisely.

It's a good deal, a good day.

Sincere Regards

DSE Bretonia Representative Hunter,

I am so very happy that your bank allows for such large deposits on such a short notice! Our coffers are full, and for me this means we can get to the hard work of upgrading our base to better serve the system and planet. Very good!

With your payment, and contract to complete deliveries of materials required for the upgrade of Medway Dock, we consider this purchase to be completed.

As such, the base Brighton Business Concourse is now yours legally, and the relative law enforcement agencies will treat it as such. I will have all the paperwork delivered to them post haste.

Sincerely,
Professor Arthur Morrison, Cambridge University & BMM R&D Division

Professor Morrison,

We received a coms from one of our ship Captains. He advises the contract has been completed, and well within time.

Consequently we will advise you when we are ready for the first shipments of ore. At the moment things are a little hectic as we shift our Head Quarters from Old Trafford to what will become our new HQ, yet to be named.

I am sure the financial boost to the Universities coffers will indeed be beneficial.

Take care.

Professor Morrison,

I trust things are going well and the funds for the sale of BBC (soon to be called Crystal Palace) are of benefit to the R&D at Cambridge. Work is completed in Manchester and we have now moved the HQ from Old Trafford to Crystal Palace.

We are now in the position to work out the details of the first load of ore as negotiated.

"Cambridge University & BMM R&D Division would supply/make available to DSE) Bretonia Division 200,000 units of a variety of high value raw ores. Details to be worked out at a later date post sale."

Would it be possible for you to organise 40,000 units of Gold Ore to be deposited onto Crystal Palace/BBC? As I am not sure who your preferred supplier would be we would appreciate knowing who they are, or they can contact us directly, to allow them access. Also, are there any extra costs involved that we need to be aware of?

Kind regards,
