For the record I looked for 403s in the logs and found none (edit: turns out I did not have the right logging on, would be interesting to see what's going on if anyone else runs into this consistently), checked a couple of basic things (run as admin, disk usage) with Hawkee, but in the end it was found that deleting the FLSpew file under the AppData dir and reinstalling FL apparently did the trick.
