PROJECT BRIEF

Project RAMPART is a partial follow-up of projects OSIRIS, FIDELITY, and SPYGLASS, and will repurpose many assets previously assigned to the now defunct project ECHELON. The ECHELON sensor project will be scaled down and merged with RAMPART. The Department of Tactical Operations has been stating a need for a new platform that is not as specialized as the Archer siege cruiser, nor as blunt and expensive as the Interdictor Battlecruiser. RAMPART will be the new platform for the Liberty Security Force.

OBJECTIVES

The primary objective is the production of a capital platform that will be capable of both infiltration and information gathering, and assaulting hardened targets when necessary, while not depending on the strained production lines of Archer and Interdictor class vessels. The secondary objective is to finish the ECHELON sensor system, though it is not vital to RAMPART itself, it will undoubtedly be a boon for the navigation of particle fields and dark matter storms, of late have been slowly enveloping the systems bordering Liberty, with no signs of clearing in the future.

The abandoned project of the otherwise unnamed Recon Cruiser platform will serve as the testbed for new and improved technologies, including adapted technologies from the Nomad aliens. As such, any information pertaining to the usage of alien technology will remain, above all, secret, and only for those with PROJECT RAMPART clearance.

Tertiary objectives include adapting Nomad technology for power generation, and in the use of a potential semi-permanent cloaking field as was used in the OSIRIS project. Others include attempting to adapt Gallic technology derived from the captured Carcassonne, both for weaponry and for power generation, with incidental discoveries not applicable to RAMPART being shared with the armed forces. These objectives will only be pursued after there are functional prototypes in limited service.
