PROJECT BRIEF
Project STELLAR WIND represents the successor to project SENTRY EAGLE and a culmination of the technology researched on project ECHELON, aiming at providing an upgrade and complete replacement of the RC-120U "Rivet Joint" hulls. Being developed alongside Project RAMPART, the upgraded hulls will be fitted with the scaled-down ECHELON sensor system and the already-tested SENTINEL radar fitted on reconnaissance liners.
OBJECTIVES
The primary objective of project STELLAR WIND is to provide the already-existing RC-120U Spaceborne Warning and Control System (SWACS) vessels with an upgrade to the radar and sensor systems, therefore allowing the Liberty Security Force and Liberty Navy to field improved intelligence-gathering ships.
Being jointly developed apace with project RAMPART, the liners will represent an integrated command and control center, and act as a battle management, surveillance, target detection, and tracking platform deployed in all theaters of war. The vessel provides an accurate picture of the battlespace to the Joint Space Operations Center, inluding situational awareness of friendly, neutral and hostile activity. The Secondary objective of the project is represented by the installation of larger engines and reactors to substantially increase the deployment range and extend possible mission times without resupply.
RC-120U hulls, modified variants of the civilian OASIS liners, will act as the testbet for the initial prototype of project STELLAR WIND, however due to the nature of the upgrade required, external systems such as and including the weaponry system and internal modules for the crew and storage/equipment compartments, excluding sensor and radar areas designated on the vessel, will not be modified.
