As you may have seen, a few new ships have arrived recently, with pilots who are being looked after my Med Force Enterprises on the nearby modular station. I am contacting you today to ask permission for a modular base relocation, of which has been hard for me to obtain across multiple systems so far. Our business with MFE and Cryer has been to cure ourselves from radiation poisoning, and with our base located in the Kepler System, we wish to have it relocated to a sector that's both sustainable and in a position where we will not get sick again. We have been hard at work scouting other potential systems to move to with no success.
To boil it down, I'm asking if I can get permission to rebuild my station in the Omega-3 System. If you have any guidelines or rulings about this, please do let me know about them.
Thank you for your message. My name is Kris Tofferson and I am the administrator of Freeport 1.
I have read your request on the relocation of your station and discussed it with the board at OSI HQ. It is important to understand that the authority of OSI is limited to Freeport 1 and it's no-fire-zone or, NFZ. We are not the authority for the Omega-3 system.
After deliberation it is decided that the Freeport 1 administration does not give permission for the relocation of your station to within the NFZ of the Freeport. The reason for this is that the amount of traffic generated by the stations in the NFZ is already limiting day to day operations. Another installation in the NFZ would increase the traffic even further thus making Freeport 1 traffic become even more congested. Apart from traffic congestion and long docking times it also poses a serious risk to the safety of vessels and stations in the NFZ.
This brings me to the point about authority I mentioned in the beginning. While we deny your request for station relocation within the Freeport 1 NFZ, we do welcome you as our neighbor in the Omega-3 system. For reference I have enclosed the current location of Freeport 1 and the NFZ.
It seems I was not clear as to where I would like to reconstruct my station, apologies Kris. I can see where you would take my request to mean inside the No Fire Zone, when it is not the case. The ideal location for us would be within Omega-3 to be sure, but somewhere closeby to the Freeport as to benefit from the station's exports.
With superficial scans of the system, our first choice would be Sector C5, between the Graham Ice Cloud and the Trade Lane leading to Sprague. Of course, you did say you are not an authority within Omega-3, however we would like some input from the Freeport, or OSI rather, as to our presence within the system. Would this area of the system be intrusive in any way?
No need to apologize, all in a days work I'd say. Anyway, Sector C5 should be an okay place. I talked to some of the locals and they say it's generally safe around here. The old maps do show some patrol routes but nowadays it's mostly the regular 'I-don't-wanna-use-the-Cambridge-gate' traffic.
There are two nearby stations in the Nebula and both of them are armed. From what I hear only one is open for docking and both seem to be run by Freelancers.
So as to answer your question: I don't think you will find yourself being intrusive here. As a matter of fact, I think the system would benefit from some settlements here and there. Provided we keep traffic and safety in mind yet that should not be a problem when we spread around.
Next time you're in the area drop by my office for a chat and do let me know when you are locating here. Although I think the locals will tell me soon enough.
If we get rejected from this other system we're investigating, I'll come around to talk specifics when it comes to Omega-3. For now, it's good to know that we are welcome there.
We have seen the Deterrence Corsairs in the deeper Omegas, do you know of any other groups that operate in these parts? We'd like to make sure we are situated nicely inbetween everyone before we start the big move.
