A simple way to backup accounts

Some folks seem to have problems with securing their Freelancer accounts, so I figured I'd share this.

Step 1: Get Freelancer Account Manager, By Korrd.

Step 2: Using Freelancer Account Manager (now to be referred to as FAM), scan for every account and ensure you have all your characters on there.

Step 3: Select any of your accounts, go to file, then export. Be sure to click 'Yes' to export every account in FAM.

Step 4: Locate your exported file.

Step 5: Using Notepad, open the exported file and copy the contents.

Step 6: Go to My Personal Note Pad on DiscoveryGC.

Step 7: Paste the contents of the exported FAM file into My Personal Notepad

Step 8: There you have it. When DiscoveryGC is up, and everything is working, you have your accounts. If DiscoveryGC is not up and working, you have no need (excluding other servers for now) for your accounts.

---

Now, 'this is all well and good, but how do I use this to secure my accounts' I hear you say ...

The answer is quite simple really, so here goes:

Step 1: Open up Freelancer Account Manager.

Step 2: Go to My Documents, and create a new file "Accounts.txt".

Step 3: Go to My Personal Notepad and copy the contents of the previously pasted file.

Step 4: Paste the contents of My Personal Notepad into the "Accounts.txt" file.

Step 5: Rename the file to "Accounts.ADF", so that it can be imported by FAM.

Step 6: Import the file into FAM, you now have your accounts successfully restored.

---

So, useful? Pointless? Thoughts? (Pictures to come later)

Or just export all accounts, and email it to yourself. Remember to put something useful as the subject line, not Random Stuff 4/23/08.

So ... pointless?:P

*shrug* This way there's no chance of accidently deleting it.

Yanno, I never even thought of storing my account id's here on the site. Although I do use my notepad for....."other" things(story locations and where i left off on em). I gotta say, this is brilliant!
