I am writing to you today to request the company's position on the recent crisis in Pennsylvania. As you know, the Liberty Navy has been conducting a military operation in the Kansas and Vespucci systems in an attempt to quell the Insurgency. However, there have been rumors that some members of the Insurgency have fled to the Libertonian protectorate of Pennsylvania, specifically to the planet Erie.
The Liberty Security Force (LSF) has recently released a report that claims to have gathered actionable evidence of this. However, the local government of Erie has denied these claims, citing provisions of the treaties signed by Liberty granting Erie jurisdiction over matters of immigration, asylum, and deportation.
The LSF has responded by stating that granting refuge to criminals, terrorists, and enemy combatants is a direct violation of Libertonian law and the treaties. Further, the Liberty government and military maintain authority over the system of Pennsylvania in all military matters - including the seizure and arrest of enemy personnel.
It is unclear at this time whether Erie will concede to Liberty's demand or whether the matter will instead be taken to court. However, this act of insubordination from the protectorate's government is only the latest in an ever expanding list. Relations between Erie and Liberty have been on a steady decline for years, and the Vespucci campaign has done little to mend them. Complaints about brutal military and police operations, dangerous debris left behind after battle, and abuse of power by the Navy, LPI, and LSF have mounted ever since Liberty commenced its assault on the insurgent hideouts in the neighboring Kansas and Vespucci systems.
Given the close relationship between OSI and Liberty, I would be grateful if you could advise us on your position regarding this crisis. It is likely that we will follow your lead in this matter.
Sincerely,
--Dr. Brandon Wright Research and Development, SLRC

Good day Dr. Wright,
Just after you wrote us the messages of concerned friends and relatives on planet Erie started to make their way to us. It seems to be a precarious situation and we are closely monitoring it's developments.
For this reason we are in close contact with one of our representatives at Bethlehem Station in the Pennsylvania System. While OSI does not have a station in the Pennsylvania system we do rent a rather large office at Bethlehem for transportation matters and crew support.
While you mentioned a 'close relationship between OSI and Liberty' in your communique I must admit that there is no such thing to speak of. While OSI and Liberty are on neutral grounds and we as OSI abide by their laws, the close relationship we had in the past has changed to one which can be labeled best as 'mutually agreed upon'. This, in effect, means that OSI is not being treated else than any other foreign faction whilst we abide by the rules and regulations while flying in Liberty space.
Now regarding our position, I can see the seriousness of reacting in a timely matter regarding things currently at hand. The one thing I can do at this time is to offer our transportation services should these be needed. This message has been sent to the OSI representative at Bethlehem station prior to this message.
Doctor, would you happen to know whether we have any representative on planet Erie itself? This would greatly help any and all undertakings from our side as well as to ensure that the right deliveries are being made on time.
As you know, the planet of Erie has not had a formal administrator since Finn McCool. We believe that it is in the best interests of both OSI and SLRC to appoint an Administrator of Bethlehem Station, first, who has the support of both OSI and SLRC. This person would be responsible for starting diplomatic efforts with Liberty and for ensuring that preparations are made in the event of a worst case scenario. As we are aware that many of the Planetary Governors of Erie are staunch isolationists. We believe this leaves us little inroads with leadership planet side. However as Bethlehem only has a few hundred individuals, it should be a less of an issue to gather the necessary support. While SLRC has a few individuals in mind who could assist in this dual role of Station Master and Ambassador to Erie. We believe it may be in our mutual interests to appoint an individual who is outside of both our spheres of control and thus actually accountable to the Zoners who run Erie day to day.
We would be grateful if you would consider our proposal. We believe that it is the best way to resolve the crisis on planet Erie and to protect the interests of both OSI and SLRC.
Sincerely,
--Dr. Brandon Wright Research and Development, SLRC

Dear Dr. Wright, dear Brandon,
Having read your response the answer to that which you requested only came to me the very minute my niece left after our Friday tea meeting.
Now my niece has been working for Med Force Enterprises for a few years now. I have seen her go up the ranks and currently she is the administrator of the Med Force Academy in Omicron Theta.
As all Zoners know, MFE is run by Dr. Holliday yet what very few know is that my niece, Jill is her name, has become a trusted member of MFE over the past few years. Now even though I would very much like to brag about all those things my niece has accomplished it brings me to the following point.
You see, my niece and I are close and we talk to each other on a regular basis. While I haven't had the privilege of meeting Dr. Holliday in person yet I must admit that all the stories my niece shared with me made me admire the good doctor in a great way.
To cut long things short, I would recommend Dr. Holliday as a representative for Zoner affairs on Planet Erie. Now mind you, this is a recommendation from me personally and not from OSI. Nor is this a recommendation which is discussed with me and the doctor. As far as I know he may not even be into this matter at all. Yet if I would recommend someone it would be him as my niece trusts him with her life. And when she does that, there's very little an uncle like me can say no to.
I hope my personal recommendation helps you along. Please do let me know what either I or OSI can help you with.
