First Armada's Raptor Squad, clarified
27 June 830, New York

Open Insurgent and Rogue assault on Fort Bush forces direction changes for the Raptors

The Raptor Squad has been a division of the First Armada dedicated to disrupting the smugglers, lawbreakers and hostile suppliers within Liberty alongside regular Naval combat duties whenever required.

Assault on Fort Bush
Two days ago, a large open assault was undertaken against Fort Bush. First Armada's superstar Lockwood Holloway, a frequent participant in First Armada's patrols, Bishop Zehel and other naval vessels have been summoned to Fort Bush, where wave after wave of bombers, cruisers and gunboats attempted to destroy the station openly. This massive coordinated attack was an enormous surprise - the Insurgency was believed to be bottled up in Vespucci with their defectors cowering together with the Xenos in Ontario or far away regions of the Omicrons. The direction of the assault came from the Pittsburgh Debris Field.

A crisis
This brought to the attention of Liberty's Naval strategists what has become painfully obvious. Liberty Navy is currently spread out too thin and lacking focus. The First Armada will provide just that. An open assault on Fort Bush of this magnitude clearly wouldn't be possible without powerful logistical backing. Our focus on Vespucci, Pennsylvania, Coronado and Omicron Nu has allowed our enemies to smuggle and supply their operations right under our noses. We are simply curing the symptoms, rather than dealing with the problem of well-supplied enemies of Liberty.

Patrol commander Vanguard
Before the Raptor squadron became operational, Liberty's smuggling and hostile supply situation reached a crisis point. Trade lanes have been openly used by hostile supply vessels, and even by our own corporations engaged in smuggling - there simply wasn't anyone to stop them. Codename VANGUARD, our patrol commander and Raptor leader, has singlehandedly changed that, with 17 smugglers caught and reported cargo interceptions within their first month. This was alongside the standard Naval duty of engaging in conventional combat whenever called upon.

Direction changes
The assault on Fort Bush has forced a sit down with the First Armada leaders and Vanguard to address the dire situation. Our enemies are running massive logistical operations under our noses, using conventional low-level strikes as distractions. Vanguard has been trying their best, but the dual role of Raptors as hostile supply disruptors and regular combat units has been hindering their work.

We have come to the somewhat radical change of dedicating of the Raptor vessels to a specific purpose. From this point forward their one and only objective is the disruption of hostile supply lines, cutting the artery of the drug and smuggling business that fuels the enemies of Liberty, and focusing on identifying law-breakers that may be involved in said activities. Even when the Liberty Navy faces direct conventional assaults the Raptors are to continue their duty of disrupting hostile supply units. In other words, they will not engage in direct active combat with hostile combat vessels unless contraband or supply of hostile entities or the black market is taking place, or they are needed as the very last resort.

Conventional Naval units and the public should be prepared for this change of direction and focus - know that the Raptor Squad's priority will not be small packs of hostile combat vessels - they will not be expected to engage them, instead, they will always be on the lookout for the large logistical runs of our enemies, scanning vessels, asking questions and ensuring compliance with the law. For this purpose, the division is being refitted with "Obsidian" Limited Edition Fighters that are capable of holding a cloak, countermeasure, cruise disruptor and missiles while possessing a generous hold, alongside a small fleet of light fighter interceptors, freighters and bombers against larger smuggling targets.
