The Spectre Company Emerges
07 July 830, Ontario

Ambitious combat-hungry officers receive a modest budget to form a new sub-division of the First Armada.

The First Armada has grown into one of the largest, and without a contest most active House militaries and navies across Sirius and beyond. Naturally, when an organization grows to such heights it becomes unsustainable to have officers all engage in all the wide reaches of all activities and regions we operate in. Specialisations begin to form and officers naturally gravitate towards specific roles.

Origins
For an entire month, officers of the First Armada have been heavily incentivised to train in virtual reality, and many have spent day and night in the simulator for the entire month indeed. Many have undertaken this challenge, engaging in virtual dogfight after dogfight, duel after duel. Return to standard duty has then become a great shock to them. From the intense simulator action came endless requests for detailed reports, and lengthy patrolling, and before they could even get into a fight lengthy strategical procedures have been in their way. These heavily practising officers have also turned sour at the normal practices of the Liberty Navy, where other pilots stole their glory and action when they prefer to use safe numbers to take down their enemies and not risk their lives and assets.

Ambition, personified
These officers are young, hungry and proud. Their confidence can be seen as unearned in practice, but the First Armada Leadership has decided to give them the outlet they yearned for. On the initiative of Lieutenant Lockwood Holloway, they have been granted a modest budget to prove themselves and continue their ways of combat-oriented duty they are used by the simulators. They formed the Spectre Company which consists solely of battle-hungry officers that want to solely focus on using the skills they have been honing in the simulator in practice. The First Armada would like to deny the rumours that it is treating these ambitious officers as problematic and expendable and sends them behind enemy lines and on suicide missions just to get rid of them. That is definitely not the case. We have complete faith in the Spectre Company, and it is them who request these dangerous assignments.

Why the Spectre company?
The Spectres are actively seeking out combat, confidently demanding duels. They like to tell conventional forces to get out of their way and let them have their glory. They also operate behind enemy lines, currently often seen in the depths of Ontario, rarely returning to headquarters. For this purpose, all Spectres reside on the 1st|LNS-Spectre. This heavily modified civilian carrier has minimal armaments and amenities. Its insides have been gutted of all non-essential systems. In their place, extensive repair bays and repair capabilities have been installed. The Spectre has an advanced launch and docking bay apparatus for lightning-fast deployments. Whatever space was left is filled with various training areas, simulators, gyms and instruction rooms. Duty aboard the Spectre is not comfortable, as the limited budget on this formerly civilian vessel left very little to spare for comfort.

Once again, the First Armada wants to reassure its Spectre Company officers and the Public. Yes, it might seem like we didn't spare much budget - but times are tough. You will be sent on dangerous missions and might seem expendable. And sure, our other squadrons like the Raptors have orders not to engage in regular combat unless enemy supply ships are present and might not exactly see eye to eye with your methods. But nevertheless - the Spectre Company have what they wanted: A chance to prove themselves, and an outlet for ambitious officers.
