Kino to Hagane Kara Umareta //Born from Silk and Steel Born to Clan Shimamori on March 3rd, 818 A.S, Kagena was raised to be an heir to the power of the clan. Before attending school, she was cared for by her mother primarily as her father was off doing the Emperor's bidding during the Tau war. Even at such a young age, she was quite the athletic child. As such, she was given lessons in gymnastics, then later kendo and naginata training when she showed an interest in more traditional activities. Her father was not entirely pleased with her choice of exercise, but he did not stop her.
She attended a private elementary school for the peerage of Honshu. In her early years, she was just like any other girl attending school. However, she had begun to realize certain girls had a proclivity for getting away with hurting the other girls. Instead of going to any of the upperclass or the adults, she decided to handle it herself. She planned, plotted and took lessons from history, notably Sun Tzu. When she was certain she could strike without retaliation or intervention, She took down two of the bullying students but was caught by one of the teachers who had unexpectedly been walking the halls. Kagena's father was upset, by her use of violence, The resultant lecture stuck with her. She still uses violence, but is much more subtle about it and certainly more cautious and thoughtful with its use.
The incident spread through the school Her web of intrigue that culminated in the defense of the other girls gave her the nickname Kumo or Spider. Then came the pun of the spider striking from the shadows based on another meaning of her name. She became Kanega Kara Kumo, or Kanega Kumo for short.
Ketsudan //The Decision Entering secondary school, Kagena had all ready begun to show an interest in engineering, specifically ship design. With ties to Kishiro Technologies, her father hired tutors who worked for Kishiro. Kagena still enjoyed kendo but felt the naginata was too cowardly. She instead added fighter pilot training beginning with training simulators. No prodigy, her focus and dedication to her interests had her excelling in her studies.
Combining her interests in piloting and engineering, Kagena began developing her own fighter design. Through her designs and studies, she realized that what she wanted to do would require a fighter on the heavier side. After a few years, she had noticed her own designs matched those of a Sunrider. She approached her father and asked him for one to test her designs using the prefab hull and systems. Currently, she is working on ironing out the bugs of her design of mixed technologies.
Recently, she has been flying freelancer missions to test her ship. On occasion she flies along side her father's ship. Unable to stop her, her father brings her along willingly to fly with him as escort. At least that way he can keep an eye on her.
