Hi Doctor Novak -- I hope this message finds you well.
It's Doctor Harlow. I spoke with you a few months ago while I was visiting Barrier Gate. The chatty one, remember, with the Survey Corps? Well, formerly now I'm afraid. A bad bit of business happened there, but as it happens, it gave me the opportunity to think about the request you made.
You were looking for exotic materials, chemical or mineral, the sort that are prohibitively dangerous or expensive to scare up, right? I happen to have recently come into a few that I believe fit the bill. Two batches of samples from beyond the Earhart system, actually.
The first is a batch of free range cryo-organisms from an ice field out there. I took a look at a few with what little equipment I've got on-board, and their resemblance to Sirian terraforming organisms is pretty striking. Its cooling effect on the internal temp of the holding unit I used varied greatly by what kind of nutrient I gave it. Could that find some purpose as a cooling aid for anything you're working on that has a high heat expenditure?
Second, these are some salvaged biologicals from a K'vosh structure that I'm guessing suffered a sort of system failure. I wasn't initially sure what they were supposed to be. While investigating one, though, I activated the mass spectrometer on my hand-scanner, and I think I accidentally triggered some sort of discharge effect. Voltage inside the container shot to way beyond safe levels faster than I could blink, and the subject in question got hot. Really hot.
I didn't run any more scans after that. Better to leave that to you and your facilities, I reckon.
Tell me, do these intrigue you? If so, what kind of pay were you offering?
