I've had the honor of speaking with your group before, but that was at a different time, and technically under a different flag. Given recent developments, however, I believe the time to make contact has once again come.
My name is Maria Cortez, Secretary of Defense for the Liparian Republic, and a supervising Colonel in her Armed Forces. I had the pleasure of speaking with a Denelo Mori before, though given the time between then and now I can understand if some things may have changed. Given the warm dialogue one of the FSD's field operatives had with a member of your group in Dublin, however, I am quite hopeful.
In light of that initial contact, an archive link to which I've provided above, I would like to provide information on recent updates involving the Ven'Gyr, the captured Legion vessel currently moored with Sabah Shipyard.
While at first I was hesitant to assume that Crayter would allow the Republic to assume control over both our own vessels that were moored with Sabah as well as the dreadnought, Crayter has since done quite precisely that, and is preparing the vessel for a full transfer over to Lipari's control. The ship to my knowledge is largely the same damaged warship that Crayter got their hands on, and I've already begun assembling a team to crew the vessel for the journey up north. There, we intend to provide the vessel a proper refit and repair, as well as hopefully using her as a blueprint to finalize the old Republic's design for a proper flagship, before providing a suitable avenue to the Legion for acquisition.
In light of this, I would like to offer to the Legion's remnants the opportunity to provide personnel to join the Lipari support crew in bringing the Ven'Gyr to working order. I can provide proper security papers and suitable attire to avoid drawing the eye of Crayterian personnel. I would need only to know the amount of material to prepare.
And if there are any concerns or comments, please direct them here as well.
Our artificial selves are uncertain of the necessity for an introduction, as our reputation seems to precede us in spite of our limited forward-facing role in Legion doctrine. None the less, I am Megiddo, Lord Stratarch of Task Force Prometheus, a self-aware compendium of the Legion's finest minds on the subject of war.
The mantle of High Logarch has since passed to one Kelly With, whom is presently indisposed. My artificial self may have chosen to address this matter directly regardless of her status however, as we possess a particular interest in HFB Ven'Gyr, her spaceframe holding the prestigious title of the Legion's main line warship, designed and built from scratch at Phoenix Shipyards, following loosely the design of the Dreadnought Ravager. She is one of the oldest amongst the fleet, outlived by Incursus and Last Sunrise alone.
We will assume your biological selves have not yet had a chance to work her frame over, as the reason for Crayter's willingness to part with her would have become readily apparent - the old girl's back is broken. Unlike Sunrise and Incursus, Ven'Gyr by our artificial selves estimation has against all odds survived more combat sorties and been deprived of more time in drydock than any other warship in Liberty. The infeasibility of maintaining her spaceframe was known to us as early as 822, yet sentiment and necessity prevented her timely retirement. Deep metal fatigue of what remains of her internal framework has long since exceeded the most optimistic of tolerances. The Corsairs would have scrapped her a decade ago.
All of this is to say that in your biological selves possession is not so much a skeleton as a ghost, and in that sense, we are kindred. Despite her state, my artificial self may still have use of her yet. Ven'Gyr we believe to be wholly unsuitable for your purposes, but we invite your biological selves to Vespucci under our supervision to study the remains of Ravager. Failing that, we may be able to provide you with yet another more suitable war platform for restoration in exchange for expedited transfer of Ven'Gyr to our custody.
Please inform us as soon as possible if these terms are reasonable. We will be waiting.
Lord Stratarch, it is a pleasure. I cannot say we've had any formal encounter with yourselves before, spare for Director Cole's operative sent to Inverness and Dublin before then, so do forgive any potential inconsiderations.
In the time since this channel's initial contact, I've had the opportunity to look over the Ven'Gyr, and I'm of a mind to agree with you. While I am by no means qualified to assess the ship's state from an engineering standpoint, it is clear the vessel is damaged nearly beyond repair, with whole sections of the hull missing, entire decks exposed to the void of space, and who knows how many other copious amounts of issues plaguing her. Nevertheless, she is spaceworthy enough that we are confident she can be moved to Eolie without too much issue.
Your offer is quite intriguing, to say the least. Ravager was to be the flagship of the Armed Forces at one point, and a symbol many of our people, both within the Armed Forces and among the citizenry, rallied to. When this could no longer be, we were to be provided a new vessel fitting her classification, which once again united our people in the hopes of keeping the Outcasts' tide at bay, until the Commonwealth ceased to be and our hopes were dashed once more.
Our people are adamant, Lord Stratarch, but are also optimistic and driven. I've seen us at our worst, and it gave me hope yet. Fox Technologies, one of Lipari's domestic corporations, was to be assigned to study the frame of the Ven'Gyr. Having access to her sister ship would no doubt prove to be a boon beyond our original estimates. Just let us know where their survey vessel should rendezvous with your people in Vespucci, and I can have FoxTech on their way within the day. I'll be sure to send a cadre of Armed Forces personnel to ensure they observe the proper respects for those whose spirits call Ravager home.
On a final note, I do still wish to offer to Prometheus a place within the Republic's support crew when the Ven'Gyr is moved to Eolie. We have begun the last stage of readying, and those we have assigned to the operation are confident that Crayter's people will not be an issue, and I'm certain would welcome the expertise. It is, of course, a Legion vessel at the end of the day.
Unless we have made a grievous error, your biological self has not provided us with the location nor rationale for the transfer of Ven'Gyr to Eolie. Please elaborate on this plan. Regardless of where you intend to send Ven'Gyr, reset assured that Legionnaires of the highest caliber shall accompany her.
With regards to the study of Ravager, we are presently resolving a situation in Vespucci. Once we have ascertained the system's safety, we believe that Tijuana Freeport will be more than willing to host your R&D contingent and accompanying Legion honorguard, under command of one of our finest.
Regarding the Ven'Gyr, we intend to move her to a secure location in Tau-44, which the Republic calls Eolie, where we had planned to begin repairs and refits to make her suitable for your usage, as well as to clear her of Crayter's eyesight. Given Crayter's current operations in Inverness, and the overall damage to the frame is substantial, we felt it was prudent to remove her from any potential firing line, and to wait until the situation in the region has died down enough that an exchange can be made.
I am thankful for your offer to air her in the journey north, however, and would ask you only dedicate that which you can spare without compromising your own people in Inverness.
As for the Ravager, I understand entirely. I'll have FoxTech begin vetting a team to send down to Tijuana when you are confident the system is safe. On behalf of their safety, you have my thanks.
Our artificial selves disagree with your assessment of strategic situation in Inverness theater. Current Crayterian ORBAT sees only limited deployment to the system, but doctrinal change could see a Zephyr carrier group with full escort deployed at moment's notice. In summary, the time to act is now. If Crayterian forces believe Ven'Gyr is en-route to Upper Barrier however, deviation from course could provoke aforementioned aggression. Ven'Gyr will make her pilgrimage to your Eolie, but should not remain there any longer than is necessary. Legion guard will deploy with crew and technicians to see her to final destination.
At current, our people are still preparing the ship for transit. Crayter's intelligence personnel seemed to spare no expense in their search for details aboard her. Our engineers are optimistic, however, and expect final departure the Monday after next, barring any delays.
I will be overseeing the escort force personally aboard the Abaddon, as well as defusing any altercations that should arise.
Let me first begin by thanking you and your pilots for ensuring the Ven'Gyr's arrival in Eolie without any incident, save for the apparent mechanical issues that our teams will need to address in the coming days.
As for the ship itself, once she was moved into a suitable mooring point near Ferrol, it became clear to many of our people the work that laid before us. Combined with the damage sustained to the ship's engines during transit, if we had come under any fire during the journey, I am doubtful her turrets would have provided more than a lightshow before failing. Each moment that follows the last only cements the fact further that she is regrettably beyond saving, as you've said yourself.
While our people will do what is necessary to make her capable of standing on her own two feet once more, my assurances you have in full, I would be interested in knowing if that situation in Vespucci has resolved itself. FoxTech has a team of personnel ready to make the journey south once the word is given.
I hope all is well given recent developments.
Ferrol recently received the last shipments of materials, and is processing them as we speak. As far as our engineers can tell, Ven'Gyr will have full functionality and marginal combat capability, though she is still woefully outdated in terms of some of her internal systems. We anticipate that your engineers will likely see to that once she's returned to your hands.
On that point, I'd like to know what Prometheus' plans are for moving Ven'Gyr out of Eolie. There have been noticeable spikes in both Maquis and Royalist activity within the last few days, a phenomena we don't anticipate will go away for the foreseeable future. I am prepared to offer the Armed Forces' assistance in seeing the Ven'Gyr out of the Tau systems safely, after which she will be entirely in your care, but I will need a rough timeline to account for any regional activity.
Additionally, FoxTech is still fully prepared for the journey south to Vespucci. If the situation down there has been resolved, I can have them sent off under escort to this Freeport within the day.
