Deployment into Omegas has not been particularly smooth; We have suffered losses already. Our elite bomber squadron has been all but wiped out from a heavy Hessian ambush in Omega Seven that caught us off guard. We didn't see them coming until they were right on top of us. Defensive assets were deployed hastily to limited effect. Dominic, Jared and Sharon have... They're gone. Katie managed to limp back into the hangar, starboard wing ripped off and heavy damage to the port hull. Pilot's hurt fairly bad too, she's in medical. They did their job, protected this carrier from harm, but it cost them their lives.
Command has been contacted, and reinforcements will be here in the next four days. Orders are to sit tight and await their arrival. In the meantime, we are to hold a funeral service, to pay respects to them for sacrificing themselves for the mission. Notes of personal nature have been dispatched to their families back home.
Omega Three isn't exactly a quiet place, but the Bretonians patrol sometimes. That should at least ward off the occasional annoyance that might ordinarily bother us. I only hope there's enough fight in the crew to combat the next threat that might try their hand. Not terribly many of us were trained for it, and few of us had seen action before today.
Reports from the hangar crew say the damage to the Roc is substantial, but clean, meaning repairs will not take as long as expected. An estimated forty-eight hours to complete full refit and rearm for any possible threat. Its likely that if she is forced to defend, she too will be lost. I don’t think I could stomach that. Scanner array is clear for now, no unusual movement. I just hope it stays that way.
