Greetings, gentlemen.

I hope this communication finds you and yours in good health. It's too long since I visited. My health doesn't permit it these days.

As civil authorities, I hardly need to lecture you on the enduring nature of civilised society. Conflicts between nations come and go, but the law endures. My many years of experience as a soldier and policeman before my retirement taught me one thing. Public and social order must be maintained through the legitimized use of force.

That is my creed. It has served humanity well. With order comes the fruits of civilisation. Trade flows. Lives are built. Cool stuff gets invented. We get to go somewhere warm for holidays and have life expectancies longer than thirty years.

What we don't need is to slide into barbarism, where it becomes every man, woman and two-credit punk for him or herself.

We have intelligence reports on a particular group of individuals who have been plying their trade targetting members of the Guild in Liberty. We have evidence to suggest they are employed by the organisation of former data-inputters and software-nerds known as the Lane Hackers. In fact, it appears the Lane Hacker known as Phate is directly connected to this shady deal.

Now before you Rheinlanders start applauding, I should point out that there is other evidence to support the idea that these same individuals ply their trade in Rheinland and Bretonia as well, targetting members of lawful groups: corporate, military and otherwise.

Which brings me to the burning question. Are the lawful police factions and commercial entities of Sirius going to harbour people who
a. openly work for a criminal organisation
b. attack a professional and lawful Guild dedicated to assist in the lawful apprehension of criminal elements
c. fulfill both lawful and unlawful contracts in the same jurisdiction,

No man can serve two masters.

Forgive the lateness of my reply. I hope this communication finds you in better shape than me after that stroke I had at the last APM shareholders meeting.

Well, let's start with the authorities in Liberty. Seems you are so ploughed under with paperwork that you approved contracts to some mercenary outfit called the Reavers for security work, while they have been picking off Guild members around Liberty.

What's this here? Shucks - looks like I have intelligence reports on their activities attacking members of the Bretonian Armed Forces as well. I know that's far away, but Bretonia and Liberty have always had that special relationship. I don't think the Bretonians would be too happy about that now would they?

That's the kind of over-sight that makes you wonder why folks think of us as allies against crime.

No man can serve two masters. Except in Liberty these days apparently. Personally I find it troubling, being a citizen of Liberty, a frequent visitor to Texas (birthplace of our illustrious Guild) and having many friends and family in both Bretonia and Liberty.
