It happpened to my carrier once for no reason... I put it down to server error at the time, as I'm sure had I broken any rules the admins would have kindly asked me to stop first.

Yes, it deals insane radiation damage...but you can fly through the middle and survive (loot the CAU 8 wreck, and jump to Liberty while you're at it)
