The Expendables

Founded: 827 A.S.
Classification: Independent Zoner Group
Primary Operations: Commodity Transportation & Resource Acquisition
Base of Operations: [CLASSIFIED]
Current Status: [Active]

Overview
The Expendables are not merely another independent freight operation - they are the fractured leadership of what was once one the pride ships of the Rheinland Navy.
Originally the command staff of the Elbe-Class Carrier RNC-E Valkyrie-E-1, these officers find themselves officially dead, their ship erased from all records,
and their crew scattered across the void.
What began as a routine deep patrol mission in 827 A.S. became a nightmare when an experimental jump drive malfunction catapulted them into uncharted regions of space,
leaving them stranded in systems that do not appear on any Sirius navigation chart.

History and Formation:

The Valkyrie's Final Mission
The RNC-E Valkyrie-E-1 was among Rheinland's most advanced carriers, equipped with cutting-edge navigation systems and
an experimental long-range jump drive designed to extend patrol capabilities into the dangerous frontier regions. Captain Lia Brenner,
now known as
"The Sparrow" commanded a crew of 847 souls, handpicked from the Rheinland Navy's finest officers and enlisted personnel.
The ship's mission parameters were classified, but intelligence suggests they were conducting deep reconnaissance operations near the edge of an, yet, unknown nebula when disaster struck.

The Accident
During what should have been a routine jump sequence, cascading failures in the experimental drive systems created an uncontrolled spacetime rupture.
The Valkyrie was hurled beyond the boundaries of known space, emerging in a region where stellar cartography held no meaning and familiar constellations had vanished.
Emergency protocols activated immediately, but the ship's position remained utterly unknown - they were lost beyond any hope of conventional rescue.

The Cover-Up

When the Valkyrie failed to return from patrol, Rheinland authorities faced a crisis. The ship's experimental systems were highly classified,
and its disappearance could not be publicly acknowledged without revealing sensitive military capabilities. Within weeks,
all records of the Valkyrie and her crew were systematically purged from databases, their families told they had died in a classified border incident.
The Expendables, as they would later call themselves, became ghosts - officially dead but very much alive.

Current Operations:

The Fractured Crew
The Valkyrie remains hidden in deep space with a skeleton crew maintaining essential systems and conducting long-range reconnaissance.
Captain Brenner made the difficult decision to separate her command staff, sending them back to Sirius space through dangerous and unstable jump routes to establish a forward operating base.
These officers - her most trusted lieutenants - carry the weight of the, by the command staff estimated, around 500 surviving souls still trapped in the unknown regions.

Communication Protocol
The separation from their ship and crew is maintained through a tenuous lifeline: rare stellar anomalies that create brief windows for encrypted burst transmissions.
These communications, resembling ancient morse code patterns, are the only confirmation that the Valkyrie and her people survive.
A sophisticated monitoring station at their hidden base ensures these vital signals are never missed, each message precious beyond measure.

Resource Acquisition Campaign
Operating under the guise of independent freight haulers, the Expendables pursue a clandestine mission of resource gathering.
Every contract, every trade route, every carefully planned smuggling operation serves a single purpose: acquiring the exotic materials, technological components,
and financial resources necessary for the most ambitious rescue operation in Sirius history.
Their reputation for completing dangerous contracts stems not from greed, but from desperate necessity.

Organizational Structure:

Command Hierarchy
The Expendables maintain strict military discipline despite their civilian facade.
Leadership positions reflect their original battleship hierarchy, with each officer responsible for specific aspects of the rescue operation.

Operations Commander: Lia"The Sparrow"Brenner, former carrier captain
Navigation Specialist: "Raven"
Logistics Coordinator: "Wolverine"
Security Chief: to be named

Operational Security
Every member operates under assumed identities, their true military backgrounds carefully concealed.
The full scope of their mission remains classified even from most crew members, who believe they are simply running profitable freight operations.
Only the core leadership knows the truth: they are the lifeline estimated 500 trapped souls counting on them for salvation.

The Sacred Creed
Binding the Expendables together is an unshakeable oath forged in the depths of their loss.
They will bring their ship home, they will rescue their people, and they will restore the honor of those declared dead by bureaucratic convenience.
No price is too high, no risk too great, no sacrifice too demanding. In the dangerous regions where they operate, this creed transforms them from mere freight runners into something far more dangerous -
soldiers with nothing left to lose and everything to gain.

Current Status

As of 835 A.S., the Expendables continue their covert operations while maintaining their cover as successful independent freight operators.
Their reputation for reliability masks a sophisticated intelligence network monitoring scientific developments, tracking rare materials, and identifying potential allies.
Every successful contract brings them closer to possessing the resources needed for their ultimate mission.
Unknown to the wider Sirius community, they represent something unprecedented: a military unit that has transcended death itself,
bound by loyalty to their lost crew and commanded by officers who refuse to abandon their people. The Valkyrie may be hidden in unknown space,
but her heart beats on in the dangerous corridors of the Unknown Regions, where her scattered officers work toward the impossible dream of bringing their family home.
