after reading this post:
http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?sh...mp;#entry601913

it has come to my attention that repair ships do their job well,
But..When for instance a larger sized ship comes along, lets say theres an...Hacker spyglass Versus A LN Dread, the problem with refueling either ships is that, You cannot fire succesfully whilst in the trade window therefore making yourself a prone target to the other said ship,

I have an Idea though.
What about a /GiveItem command?

Lets say repair ship comes along and uses said /giveItem command, The "Item will then be replaced with the said Item that any ship would want to send, be it Missles/mines/CMs/Nanos and Bots?

so in theory it would work like this:
/givenanobots [Name] 1200
/giveSheilbatteries [Name] 1200

Would this be sufficient enough to be added?
or is it a lowsy idea?

Disscuss.

you d probably have to include a "fill up" option. - i don t know if the program can cope with a "give item" when it exceeds the maximum ( it would probably either fail or corrupt the char - resulting in a "possible cheating detected" )

but its a good idea - it only involved one active player instead of 2.

the other problem is ... can that command be range limited? - cause otherwise, i stage my repair ships in alpha, while i fight in new york. ( in the end, give cash works siriuswide, too ... ) - and my repair ships in alpha take turns docking refilling their bots - at least the destruction of a capital ship would be truely epical ( mostly cause it would never happen )

Hey thanks for the quick response.

Well for the range of the said Idea, I would've thought Maximum would have been 3-5k Away from the target as like you said sitting in alpha feeding the said ships would be metagaming,

For the "Fill up" option, That sounds alot more interesting than the giveitem, It would obviously have to be configured so that, it would not send too many or corrupt the said characters, The Fill up option should suffice though.
In my eyes the said option would fill the other characters nanobots/sheildbatteries or any other items to full and would not send over the limit, It would have to be programmed to read what the bot/bat capacity of every ship was though, because if not it would likely send either too many or not enough.

Good thinking though jinx, Thanks.

Making yourself a vulnerable target is a necessary con for resupplying something such as a Battleship. Fighters do it a lot anyway, I'm sure you'll adapt.

For the Core.

I like the idea, the general thought of it is logical (great, now I sound like Spock), but there are ways it can be exploited.

Picture this, two traders are doing the same route. They pick the two bases that have the most profit between trips and both stay on them. Giveitem the cargo from one trader to the other, and then vice versa.

Sorry, it is to open for exploitation.

(Although I would like being able to make billions in an hour)

It would have to be a 'repair' command that is activated by the Repair ship, and is executed on the targeted ship.

The code already exists for executing a script on a target. it just has to parse in range and the nb/sb parameters.

abuse detected!

/giveitem ubertrader1 beryllium 5000
*log in, sell, buy cargo*
/giveitem ubertrader2 super-alloy 5000
*rinse and repeat

Otherwise if we can stop that, that would make code trading and *farming* easier, or perhaps they have to be in the same system for it to work?
