Divine connection? Outcast Guard had red, Imperials had yellow, so green was next as purple seemed overbearing and blue just wasn't it.

Fun fact I was listening to the Kingdom of Heaven soundtrack while I wrote this, and the green maltese cross is a symbol of the Order of Lazarus, who were tied to the Hospital of Lazarus founded by King Baldwin IV.

I didn't know that until I looked it up just now. No such thing as a coincidence, though.
