Biography
Anke was born on the frosty Planet Hamburg in 805 A.S. The daughter of two renowned intellectuals, Anke was brought up in an environment where academic achievement was the baseline standard. She wouldn't say she had a cruel childhood, but her parents were unwavering in their approach to academic discipline. Being cut from this cloth, Anke thrived in her studies and learned quickly that excellence was the bare minimum. Curiosity was rewarded only if it lead to a desired outcome. It was within this medium of discipline that Anke found her true calling: chemistry. Anke became fascinated by reactions: how inert substances could become volatile, how bonds could form or rupture, how a precise mixture could create something unique.
Her passion quickly solidified into obsession, studying chemical engineering at her parents' alma mater, Hamburg University. She carved her own path through Hamburg's academic elite through an intensity and brilliance that caused her professors to speak of her in equal parts respect and unease. Anke wasn't just a student - she was driven by the many complexities of chemistry, by the belief that every substance, element, or compound was a potential treasure waiting to be discovered. Upon her graduation, many private enterprises sought her expertise, incentivizing her with cushy office jobs and high compensation, but vanity didn't suit her. She wanted to go deeper. The resources provided by the university gave her the means to do so. This is where her interests turned a darker shade. Anke developed a fascination for toxins, and how different mixtures and doses inflicted varying levels of suffering. In the beginning, the beauty was in the science. But quickly, she ventured deeper, the work becoming less about health and the human body, and more about lethality and precision.
Despite her intellectual status, Fischer was conscripted into service at the start of the Hudson war, with the Rheinwehr needing all the bodies it could muster in its bout with Liberty. She was given basic instruction flying the renowned Valkyrie, and the Fighter remained her ship of service during her tenure. Her inquisitive mind led her to understand every facet of the ship, and gave her a deep knowledge of its innerworkings. Although she wasn't an ace pilot, she flew the Valkyrie with a level of precision and competence that held her in respect by her superiors. Anke didn't serve on the frontlines, but was occasionally called out on sorties within her home system of Hamburg. She spent the beginning of the war stationed on Battleship Westphalia, before it was later destroyed in Bering. She spent the rest of the war in the backwaters of Hamburg.
After the conclusion of the Hudson War, Hamburg University welcomed Anke back with open arms. Fischer threw herself back into research with a renewed vigor. Her publications were poignant and unsettling to the academia on Hamburg. But they were innovative. Her work began to attract the eyes of the Buro. At the time, the MND was lead by a new Direktor, VIPER. VIPER had taken a personal interest in Fischer's work and, sensing a kindred spirit, convinced her to leave the world of academia—offering access to resources far beyond the university’s reach.
Fischer joined the Buro in 830, under the callsign RICIN. Choosing the infamous toxin of millennia past as her alias, Fischer studied under the direct tutelage of VIPER herself, where she learned the finer points of chemical warfare and weapons development and the brutal nature of efficient killing. No longer was her science to be sat on a sheet of paper on some professor's desk. Here, theories turn to actions, into operational successes. Fischer was an integral piece of the rollout of project VENOM to the wider MND, and the development of BACHTRATOXIN, where she accompanied VIPER to the Edge Worlds to gather the necessary research for the development of its first prototypes. She also assisted the Direktor in the testing and eventual rollout of BACHTRATOXIN to BDM operatives at-scale.
After Viper's sudden disappearance in 834 A.S., Anke was left at a loose end. She took a leave from her post in the Frankfurt system and spent time in the neighboring Sigma-15 system doing deep research. Upon hearing about VIPER's return, Fischer returned to her post also, the Buro welcoming her back with open-arms. Older now, sharper, no longer merely an apprentice, it was time for RICIN to take matters into her own hands. She currently resides on Carrier Saar, as she looks to start a new project of her own.
