I think that you're questioning your own motivations enough to keep yourself in check, for the most part. I don't really see what you're doing as being any different from what the rest of the story related devs are doing with the canon forum accounts (red names), but if you're worried that you're pushing your own character a bit too much, just ask a wider sample of people about your intended plot points before going through with them. What you're worried about doing isn't particularly different from what any of the dev team does with their own personal projects in their dev work (some do this more than others), you just happen to be playing a character influenced by it directly instead of a house or faction which tends to be the norm when this happens.
