Okay, well, here it goes.
For much time, we have received complaints about our backstory.
Although our ingame RP never does demonstrate anything of imported nature, we've still been prejudiced based on our faction status.
Couldn't have blamed you, really, because it was the first thing you could see.

With the new Colonial Remnant NPC faction being in the mod, it was very important, obviously, to change the last element of import from our RP as a whole.
This was all already discussed at length and agreed upon with Igiss, but we of course will give everyone a chance to comment on it, though it's set in stone mostly, because a great deal of work, balancing, and careful weighing was put into this.

Without much further ado, here it is, the new and revised Colonial Remnant Faction Status And Backstory:
HERE

Please, comment at will. We do want feedback, and we don't mind constructive criticism.
Also point out any possible grammatical errors if you can, anything can slip up.

Well, bugger.

Nicely done, Colonials.

Except..

It somewhat conflicts with the recent timeline I constructed for your old Discordian friends, now the TAZ.

http://discoveryfl.com/wiki/index.php?titl...tonomous_Zoners

Also, I'm a bit saddened that there is no mention of our very good, absent friend Ambassador Nicholas Gideon, or of his Son, Michael Gideon. Basically, you've given Yngen and his many fascinating characters the "short end of the stick". (Those contacts I placed in our TAZ history as occurring in 810-811 A.S.)

Some very nice mutual RP has apparently had to be swept under the rug in order to create this "new vision".

Very sad, but I understand.

Cheers, and good luck,

Mal

Oh well, since I was the one who wrote most of the in-Sirius part, I take responsibility for that.
Sadly I'm not aware of many things, and just because I didn't put something in, doesn't mean there's not something to put in.

I'd hate to be the guy who ignores the efforts of many before him, so if you could please suggest what to edit in, I, we, would be happy to accommodate you of course.

As long as it doesn't have mention of Cylons, though.

P.S.

From what I've read of Yngen, he was one hell of an RPer and leader and did a lot for the Colonial Remnant, and I'd hate to give the short end of the stick to anything he might've done.
So as I said, please poke us here with additions, or just poke Panzer and the guys on skype.

Well, YnG was the president in planetform times, wasn't he?

I tried to get on the horn with him, but no luck - he ain't responding to anything.

Once again, I am utterly ignorant when it comes to whatever happened before I joined the Colonial Remnant(October 17th 2008), so that's out of my domain and is for you disco oldies to discuss.

I just made the preliminary thing, along with Meek who made the pre-Sirius part.

While I'm glad you've changed the bit about people who have characters in other factions not being able to be promoted above a certain rank, you still explicitly list it as 'making it harder'.

This is basically promoting clannish-ness, insular behaviour, OOC leaking into IC, and a lack of interaction with the rest of the community. It's no secret that the CR is the least popular faction with a huge chunk of members, and stuff like this is the reason why.

It's harder only if they don't put in enough activity and commitment into the faction. We don't really *make* it harder for them. Being in multiple factions and not having enough time to attend to proving you have the chops to be of a higher rank makes harder-earned promotions a mere side-effect.

I personally don't see the need for that rule, since it's the same thing either way, but that's a discussion for another time.
They always were able to be promoted above the Lt JG rank, but it was just encouraged that people commit more to the Colonial Remnant. We're not forcing anyone to anything really, and as a matter of fact, a lot of our people are in other factions, including myself.
Hasn't stopped me from getting promotions, has it? It won't stop anyone else who puts in effort.

Promoting clannish-ness?
I don't really know what that'd even mean, but I can still say that that's not what we're doing.

Insular behavior?
I'd claim something very contrary to that. We always keep RP and out of the game contact with many people on the server, regarding if they're our enemies in the game or whatever.
The way we act towards anyone ingame has *never* depended on any OOC factor.

Lack of interaction?
Well, *peeps at post count*, I'd say I interact with the community a lot, actually spend more time on forums and skype than in the game.
And so do many of us.

Also, you most likely talk to us very often, though you don't know it yourself.

And lastly, least popular? Well..:P.. that just means we're doing our job right and proper.

I, and the Colonial Remnant, have the respect of those who matter to us the most. That is all we need really.
I won't really shed tears over people that don't like us despite not having one clean argument as to why we're not to be liked.

I'll glean a few CR references from that long-arsed "History" on the TAZ Wiki page.

As that's only a search of my own and other ELF/FSFP/[~V~]/TAZ posts, i'm sure there's lots more. Hopefully it will point you in the right direction though.

Cheers,
