In the early hours of this Wednesday, simultaneous attacks on a purification and exorcism shrine and a community outreach and charity center, both owned by the Katsuherabo family, a prominent branch of the Kazu shrine family, left three dead and fourteen wounded, including ten individuals partaking in a cleansing ceremony, and one in critical condition. The incident began at 0600 when three suspects approached the Fujiyoshida Island branch of the Kazu Community Outreach Center concealing bladed weapons and firearms. Security officers from Owari Securities, also a known branch of the Kazu family and commonly found providing their services to Kazu family properties and events, moved to confront the suspects after identifying behavioral and body-language tells of dangerous individuals. What followed was a grueling battle between the three terrorists and the four Owari Securities officers on site, resulting in the wounding of one officer and the death of a second caught in the initial surprise attack, as well as the assassination of their suspected target, Katsuherabo Junpei, the administrator of that community outreach center.
Roughly thirty minutes after the attack at the community outreach center began, seven assailants forced their way through the gates of Fujiyoshida Shrine and into the inner cloister, armed with blades and firearms. Owari Securities officers forced a stalemate with the attackers while attendees and clergy were evacuated from the outer areas of the shrine, and the inner structure was fortified and locked down. At roughly 0717, after the last attacker at the community outreach center was slain, one of the assailants at the Fujiyoshida shrine revealed a bomb vest and sprinted towards the fortified inner building. The attacker was shot dead by Owari Securities officers; however, the bomb vest still detonated, killing all of the assailants and collapsing a significant portion of the shrine from both the blast and the ensuing fire.
The currently reported casualties are Katsuherabo Junpei and two security officers who the Owari family has requested remain unidentified dead; ten shrinegoers, three security officers, and Katsuherabo Taketa with light to moderate wounds, and the young Katsuherabo Shinobu in critical condition in an undisclosed New Tokyo hospital. The suspected targets of this attack were Katsuherabo Junpei, a regional administrator of the Community Outreach Centers, Katsuherabo Taketa, current head of the Katsuherabo family, and the six-years-old Katsuherabo Shinobu, heir-apparent of the Katsuherabo family.
Katsuherabo family representatives refused to comment, citing respect for the family's head being heavily preoccupied with his daughter's struggle for life in the hospital. Owari family representative Owari Karen said quote: "The Owari family has learned from our shortcomings in this attack. The Ogasawara and Katsuherabo families often insist on lax safety measures for the comfort of those receiving charity. Those receiving charity have shown us today our thanks for lax safety measures. This will not repeat." When asked about what measures the Owari family would take to ensure said safety, the representative declined to comment.
The Minister of Internal Affairs and Justice and current head of the Kazu family, Kazu Kumano, also commented on the attack later that day.
"It is a sad but unavoidable truth: When a light shines, there will be those who desire to block it, and when they block it, they create shadows. The brighter the light, the darker those shadows become. Hanazono desires to bring prosperity, security, and a Golden Age free of those corruptions that sink children and the weak into honorless debauchery and filth, and the filthy, the debaucherous, and the allies and proponents of those corruptions have risen up to strike at us. The perpetrators of this attack and their supporters despise you, my home. They will stop at nothing until you join them wallowing in Cardamine filth, following guides even blinder than they are, and being struck and abused by your fellow countrymen just as they do this very day.
We MUST bring an end to the ideals that lead people to commit these atrocities. We MUST bring an end to the influx of unclean substances, those foreign drugs that destroy morals. We MUST be united as a people against everything that would undermine us, because if we are not, we will be destroyed. THEY come for you, and for your families, and for your daughters, and for your nieces and nephews just as they came for mine. Do not let them! Stand up and resist them!"
With investigations ongoing and the Hanazono party rallied in the face of an extremist threat, New Tokyo Times will keep you informed with updates.
The following statement has been prepared by the Kusari Liberation Army's Nezumi-45 affiliates:
"People of Kusari. We claim this attack in the name of all souls yearning to be free from this impure country. The onset of the Pure Land where all may find enlightenment and the inner Buddha in all beings may be released has been made indefinitely out of reach by the misguided greed and bloodlust of the Neo-Shinto establishment and their enablers in politics. Our act of destruction was not born of malice, but of compassion for how they lead our people astray just as they themselves have been led astray.
"All who have been martyred have served the beneficent cause of bringing about the True Pure Land free of the institutions and systems that shackle us to this earthly plane. And so, we shall honor their passing by continuing to strike at the heart of attachment within the Empire: The Empire itself. So long as we cling to the ancient and Earthly, we will never be free. We, the unnamed faithful who are infinite in devotion and number, beseech those who have strayed to embrace the love and light of Amida Butsu and help to bring about the True Pure Land.
This is why Kusari needed the great guidance of Niemann. You know for a second there I thought Kusari had a very smart man, a smart man named Governor Tekagi. I watched him sit there in the great Chancellory talking smart talk with great Chancellor Niemann. But then that evil son of a bitch Jacobi, who is the real Orillion by the way, had him assassinated. And then the evil Shogun tried to screw over his own house.
If the Shogun had embraced the great liberation force sent by Chancellor Niemann, instead of working with Jacobi to try and take down Rheinland, YOU WOULD NOT HAVE THESE PROBLEMS.
The only thing Kusari needs to worship is Great Chancellor, Great Chancellor Niemann. Instead of this Hahonazo party, Kusari needs a Chancellor Niemann party. A party full of smart people, who we can send from Rheinland, to lead Kusari. What a blessing that would be.
I know not what could drive someone - let alone several - to be willing to endanger the lives of countless bystanders, for the sake of killing someone they perceive as wholly irredeemable in their eyes.
That is bad enough.
But to try and take the life of a CHILD??
All over some perceived "sins of the father"? Or because that CHILD's family or organization has somehow wronged you!?
That poor lass is going to be traumatized for LIFE over this, and is likely never going to get to grow up feeling safe, or have ANY semblance of freedom, since now I doubt her family allows her to go ANYWHERE, EVER AGAIN without SOMEONE constantly hovering over her, or controlling every single step of her day!!
Whoever has had a hand in helping to save little Shinobu and all of those who survived are Gods' Blessed Heroes - Be they the officers on-scene, or the medical teams working so hard to treat those injured.
You let Miss Shinobu know that the whole crew of the Gaelic Wyvern Inn is onboard and willing to cook her up one of the best set of meals of her young life!
While we would also quite adore the chance to meet her, we understand if that is not possible at this time, due to safety concerns.
We hope she gets better.
Kusari may not be perfect.
The galaxy is too muddled with grey to be truly cut-and-dry black-and-white.
But what I DO know, is that NOTHING justifies the killing of CHILDREN, ESPECIALLY ones so young.
