The Shinsei Clan emerged in 836 A.S. as a reformist movement within the Gas Miners Guild, founded by a former GMG Security Commander named Katsuhiro Shinsei and a coalition of progressive mining engineers, corporate strategists, and security veterans who grew increasingly frustrated with the GMG's traditionalist approach to business and politics. The name 新星 (Shinsei) reflects the clan's commitment to innovation and forward-thinking methodologies.

The birthplace of GMG and The Shinsei Clan.
The catalyst was a pattern of missed opportunities. In 835 A.S., Katsuhiro proposed a forward operating base in Nordsee Cloud in Sigma-15 that would have secured lucrative H-Fuel contracts before competitors could establish meaningful presence there. The proposal was rejected by GMG leadership as "too aggressive" and "diplomatically risky." Within months, Rheinland corporations claimed the territory, and the Guild lost what would have been its most profitable venture in a decade.
This rejection revealed a systemic issue: GMG's growing passivity and stagnation. The Guild's hesitancy to evolve beyond outdated protocols left personnel underutilized and opportunities surrendered to nimbler competitors.
Katsuhiro spent the following year consulting with colleagues who shared his concerns about operational inflexibility. He found resonance among mining engineers whose innovations were delayed by excessive reviews, corporate strategists who watched opportunities vanish to bureaucracy, and security veterans who felt existing rules of engagement left personnel vulnerable. Together, they formed the Shinsei Clan - a specialized GMG branch capable of operating with greater flexibility than the main Guild allows.
Urkarahagakure - the ancestral village of Katsuhiro-san and the Shinsei Clan.
This is where it all began.
Unlike the conventional GMG operations that have maintained decades of cautious neutrality, the Shinsei Clan believes the Sirius Sector is entering an era of unprecedented changes that demand aggressive adaptation. Our core philosophy rests on three pillars:
Technological Superiority: Investment in cutting-edge gas extraction and refining technologies, particularly in the カラス星雲 (Crow Nebula), where traditional mining methods are becoming obsolete
Market Expansion: Aggressive pursuit of new contracts and territories, even at the risk of diplomatic friction with established powers
Strategic Opportunism: Leveraging geopolitical instability to secure advantageous positions before competitors can react

The Kusari-Liberty Crisis
The Shinsei Clan sees great opportunity in growing tensions between the Kusari Empire and the Liberty Republic. Intelligence gathered through GMG trade networks suggests that both houses are mobilizing for potential conflict, with skirmishes already occurring in border systems. The Clan leadership views this not as a threat, but as an opportunity to increase income.
Quote:"While the old guard whispers about neutrality, we see profit in chaos. When two giants fight, the smart merchant sells fuel to whichever burns brighter."
— Clan Founder's Journal, 836 A.S.
The Shinsei Clan has begun stockpiling H-Fuel reserves in neutral systems and establishing forward operating bases that can serve either side depending on which offers better contracts. This pragmatic approach has drawn criticism from traditional GMG members who view it as unethical, but the Clan argues that survival requires adaptation.
The Kusari Elections & GMG Nationalization Threat (Or Perhaps a Necessary Measure and New Prospects?)
Even in the cramped, rainy, and unwelcoming capital of Kusari, the Clan has established its new headquarters.
The 836 A.S. Kusari Parliamentary Elections marked a turning point for the Shinsei Clan. Recent electoral results show a significant rise in support for radical nationalist parties advocating for the nationalization of foreign corporate assets, including the GMG's Kusari-based operations. Some members of the Clan's Council see this as an existential threat to their business model, while others believe that a military alliance with Kusari will benefit the Guild.
Nevertheless, the Clan Leader, Katsuhiro Shinsei, has made the controversial decision to secretly strengthen the Clan's ties with the Blood Dragons as both factions have shared interests:
Anti-Corporate Sentiment: Both factions view excessive corporate influence as corruption steering Kusari toward decay. The Blood Dragons target Kusari Corporations and Law enforcement specifically; the Shinsei Clan shares concerns about corporate monopolization threatening independent operators like the GMG.
Government Destabilization: Blood Dragons launch surgical strikes to destabilize the Kusari government. The Shinsei Clan benefits from this pressure, as a preoccupied government is less likely to pursue GMG nationalization.
Intelligence Network: Blood Dragons maintain sympathizers within the Kusari government and corporate structures. The Shinsei Clan leverages these contacts for early warnings about legislative threats to GMG operations.
Kyoto Base – The only place to which the Clan supplies H-Fuel free of charge.
Rumour has it that some of the clan members are part of the Blood Dragons.
Clan leadership also takes into consideration Blood Dragons' allies - Golden Chrysanthemums, but their cardamine addiction and close ties with Outcasts makes them unpredictable, possibly even dangerous for GMG operations.
While the GMG officially maintains distance from outlaw factions, the Shinsei Clan operates under the belief that supporting the Blood Dragons serves as insurance against nationalization - if the current government falls, the Clan will have allies in the new regime.
This alliance is conducted through intermediaries and deniable assets, allowing the GMG proper to maintain plausible deniability while the Shinsei Clan secures its future.
Rheinland Frustrations & New Alliances
The Shinsei Clan has grown increasingly frustrated with the GMG's passive approach to Sigma-15, particularly letting corporations like Kruger dominate. While traditional GMG leadership accepts unfavorable contracts to maintain peace, the Shinsei Clan believes this weakness invites further predation.
Wichter Station – An important staging point for the Shinsei Shadow Fleet on the way to Rheinland.
To counterbalance this, the Clan has initiated outreach to the Bundschuh and the Red Hessians, Rheinland-based factions composed of disillusioned workers and political dissidents. These groups share the Shinsei Clan's skepticism of Rheinland corporate power and have proven willing to constantly disrupt Rheinland corporate operations.
Helgoland Station – GMG’s own mini-shipyard in the Sigma-13 system.
The Shinsei Clan seeks to reestablish the historically strong partnership between the GMG and ALG Waste Disposal. During the Yanagi Nebula debris cleanup operation, the GMG purchased Helgoland Station and maintained positive relations with ALG for years afterward. The refusal to support the ALG after the civil war in Rheinland proves once again that GMG's reforms are long overdue. That's the reason our clan exists.
The Bielefeld and Bruchsal bases serve as H-Fuel distribution points for the Rheinland Democratic Underground.
The Shinsei Clan plans to provide these groups with constant H-Fuel shipping and occasional equipment support, while receiving income from transactions and support in operations in the Sigma-15 system.
Technology & The Crow Nebula Focus
Shinsei trucks are awaiting departure near the Gas Miner Naha.
What truly distinguishes the Shinsei Clan from standard GMG operations is their investment in next-generation gas extraction technology. Traditional GMG mining relies on established methods that have remained largely unchanged for decades. The Shinsei Clan has partnered with independent researchers and rogue scientists to develop:
The extraction of Helium-3 is in full swing.
Advanced Extraction Arrays: Capable of harvesting H-Fuel from previously uneconomical gas pockets
Automated Refining Platforms: Reducing labor costs and increasing output in Sigma-13, Sigma-19, and Sigma-59
Stealth Transport Protocols: Allowing fuel shipments to bypass blockades and inspection points during conflicts
These technologies give the Shinsei Clan a significant competitive advantage, but also make them targets for corporate espionage and government scrutiny.

8. Takeru Shinsei - Commander of the Clan’s Shadow Fleet Background: Born on Planet Honshu, he once joined the Blood Dragon movement in the struggle for the free Kusari, but, having disobeyed orders from his superiors, Takeru was expelled and went underground to the Yanagi Base, where he began smuggling goods whilst aiding the Junkers. Later, whilst working for the ALG, he took part in clearing Sigma-13 of debris and the remnants of the Imperial Rheinland warships. Years later, Takeru decided to return to his family in the Guild and start afresh. He still sympathises with the Blood Dragons and dreams of freeing Kusari from its shackles, doing everything he can to aid the Kyoto resistance movement.
Specialization: Circumventing blockades, organizing smuggling operations, supplying covert allies, and conducting pirate raids in the Sigmas and the neighbouring systems.
IV. Clan Structure & Ranks
The Shinsei Clan operates under a modified corporate-military hierarchy that reflects their dual nature as both a business enterprise and a paramilitary organization. Ranks are divided into three departments: Operations, Security, and Research.
Independent research projects, junior researcher supervision
2+ months active service, proven innovation
SC-5
Researcher
Standard research assignments, data collection and analysis
1+ month active service, technical training complete
SC-6
Assistant
Entry-level position, training and support role
New members, probationary status
Promotion System
Time-Based: Minimum time in rank must be served before eligibility for promotion
Performance-Based: Members must demonstrate competence through completed missions, RP events, and contributions to faction goals
Leadership Discretion: Council members retain final approval on all promotions above SC-5
Special Recognition: Exceptional service may result in accelerated promotion or special titles
Disciplinary Measures
Warning: Minor infractions result in formal warning recorded in member file
Demotion: Repeated violations or serious misconduct may result in rank reduction
Suspension: Temporary removal from active duty pending investigation
Expulsion: Severe violations (betrayal, theft, unauthorized disclosure) result in permanent removal
V. Faction Focus Summary
Primary Objectives
Technological Dominance: Establish the Shinsei Clan as the leader in advanced gas extraction and refining technology within the カラス星雲 (Crow Nebula)
Market Expansion: Aggressively pursue new contracts and territories, particularly in contested or unstable regions where competitors hesitate to operate
Strategic Alliances: Build relationships with both legitimate and outlaw factions to create leverage against government and corporate pressure
Crisis Profit: Position the Clan to profit from the anticipated Kusari-Liberty conflict through flexible supply chains and dual-sided contracts
There may well be a "threat of nationalization", but right now the Clan needs the help of the Kusari Naval Forces more than ever before. Furthermore, military cooperation with Kusari is viewed favorably by some members of the Clan's Council. Kishiro Technologies is the most trusted partner.
GC
Neutral
The Chrysanthemums are considered respected allies of the Blood Dragons and reformists who also seek changes in Kusari, yet the Clan is concerned about their cardamine addiction and their close ties to the Outcasts
Liberty Republic
Neutral/Commercial
Rich fuel customer, great source of income. Corporations like Interspace Commerce are important business partners
Kingdom of Bretonia

We wanted to breathe new life into and support a much-loved faction that wasn’t seeing much play. It’s been almost two months now, and we’re still in the process of building up the community here on the forums as well as in-game.
I've said this before and I will say this again, be official, you deserve it. One of the best vanilla factions in the game deserves the love and focus you provide to it.
Tons of great interactions in-game with SC so far. They have been actively interacting across Sirius and fueling everyone. Can't wait to see you grow into an official faction

I've been very pleasantly surprised by SC. I admittedly initially had quie low expectations, but they've been resoundingly exceeded by the interactions and RP I've seen. Looking forward to seeing what you all get up to.
