I'm all in favour of new unique ships that look luxurious.
However, please dont make them useless at anything except sitting around while their owners type. I dont understand the whole argument that a pure-roleplay vessel has to be crap at anything else, thats just stupid.
For example (not 'directly' relelvant), look at luxury cars - Fast, Big, Heavy, Good Looking, huge engines (see powerplants).
Rich people dont pay good money for a product to be inferior in any respect.
Case in point: My uber-rich freelancer Erasmus Fontayne - His vessel, the 'Bacchus' is in fact a Kusari Explorer.
Why? It's nice looking, has a sedate yacht-like level of agility, yet in all other respects is far-superior to any common transport (apart from the cargo bay of course).
I RP it as being a luxurious gin-palace inside, but old Fontayne's not stupid enough to sacrifice defences and firepower.
The bottom line is that you don't get rich by being friends with everybody. Rich people tend to have enemies, and in the cold vacuum of deep space, they're not going to cruise around in anything that could be robbed blind by any numbskull that happens along.
So, by all means go ahead, I'm sure there's not anyone here who would not like to see nice new ships come in next edition, but people please, lets get over this silly idea that a rich mans ship has to be little more than a visual status symbol.

My brother and his two Supra's would shoot you. Big and heavy undermine fast and anything with a "huge engine" is probably a gynormous super-charger and not actually the engine. Assuming you're talking about when you see an old Mustang or Charger with a giant steel block coming out of the hood. If not, then a huge engine still undermines fast unless its like, a V12.
But I digress - yes, more ships. Luxury, even. But as stated above, don't completely nerf them. Usually rich people like a bit of safety when they're on a vacation, yes? Generally they vacation at a place where only other rich people go and don't have to worry about their wallet with $2000 in it being stolen because he knows somebody twenty feet away has twice the amount in cash in their wallet? Yeah... That'd be silly, considering there aren't any "rich" districts of space.

 Supra's?? I take it you mean the Toyota?
Apologies, I should have been clearer, I was talking about Luxury
cars, like you know, cars that are luxurious, like Rolls, Bentley etc. They are big, heavy, but also very very fast.:P

Touche.
Although he bought some racing seats with 5-point harnesses that are rather cozy. Some might say, Luxurious.:P
Anywho, sorry. I think I was mentally blurring your post and a previous one and substituted your Luxury car comment with their Sports car one. I guess reading three pages has some undesirable side effects.
... Kay, done hijacking. Just to keep relavence, I'll grumble angrily and point to my last post in an attempt to reinforce my sentiments.
Oh man I love this idea, could you make a GMG yacht designed for their Nebulas? I can really imagine that the richer ones at the top levels of GMG's hierarchy would surely want those to take some lovely R&R heheh.
Just go for 2 different types of Luxury ships. The small and fast ones. Not heavy armoured.
And the slow and heavy armoured ships. Like Limousines, the others are just like Sport Cars. Lamborghini for example.
Continental GT, Arnage's, the phantom, they aren't sluggish...
Trouble is, something like the 'sports cars' would be small and fast, rather like the fighters. In transport form that'd be the Armoured Transport, it's already there.
We already have a luxury liner, a royal liner, and a yacht. I think the luxury market is already quite catered for. What is missing is a transport line for transporting ordinary civilians. Please work on this first.

Right, so make some luxury fighters. The existing civilian fighters are more focused on utility than luxury. Think about it, if a company's CEO wanted to fly around on his own rather than being ferried around in an Armored Transport, would he want to use the same sort of fighter that his entire escort division uses, or would he want something special?
Hey, I agree, low-class civilian transports would be nice too, but that's not what he wants to work on. If I were to get into modelling, I'd be making fighters; I don't want to do transports or capitals, and because of this, I wouldn't do a good job of it. Fighters, on the other hand, I've got plenty of ideas for.
