Greetings
I am captain Jarline Duke of the Duke family's 'Corvo' class research cruiser 'Treecat-II'.
Our science team has for some time now studied the Dark Matter clouds in the Kepler system, and now turned it's attention to the two Dark Matter clouds in the Texas system. We've been given permission by the LSF to conduct field studies under the condition to report back any findings.
Our current working theory is, that the malfunction which 'created' the clouds caused an anomaly inside a dense Dark Matter cloud to 'override' the destination of the Texas prototype 'gate, and thus syphoned off the Dark Matter from there.
During our first trip into the 'Grande Negra' cloud, we came across the wreck of the Supply Ship Ft. Worth. Our probe found an intact compartment inside one of it's cargo-pods, and we were able to retrieve two 'White-Boxes' containing either Lane or Gate parts, which were meant to be delivered to the Dallas Research Station - as far as we know exactly during the accident.
Since we're attempting to create a simulation of the accident, examining the technology used in the prototype, as well as any non-classified information concerning that project would be invaluable. We're particularly interested in sensor readings taken prior to, during and after the accident and information on whether or not the Jumphole pair from Texas to California - each located at one of the prototype's locations - already existed and was used in the project.
Thus we'd like to ask for your permission - and the necessary codes - to open the two 'White-Boxes' and any information you would be willing to share. Should you rather have us return the 'White-Boxes' to be analysed at an Ageira laboratory, then please inform us of which station we should deliver them to and what time and day would be feasible for you.
The LSF is very interested as to how you intend to simulate the accident again, as it is considered a national security risk.
It is unusual that Ageira has not responded yet. However, should they be unable to help, I am sure certain departments within the LSF could open those crates.
All of us onboard the Treecat-II are aware of how serious the Texas prototype gate accident is for the Liberty government. We are ourself concerned about what we may find, as any discovery can be used or abused... as has happened too often in mankind's history. I will have my mother - as our science officer - prepare a detailed report on the 'usual channel' to address our and your concerns.
Regarding the 'White-Boxes', we'd like to wait for another 48 hours for an answer by Ageira, as our science team will take that long anyway to finish their examination of the casing and the dark matter radiation's effects upon it. Our preliminary analysis has so far confirmed that the two boxes indeed date to the accident.
The LSF will respond on the aforementioned frequency at a later time after all the information provided has been processed. We are glad that you are aware of the risk of this research, and we hope you have taken measures to destroy your research should anyone try and procure it.
We also recommend an escort. The LSF may or may not send an agent to Kepler to assist you depending on the conclusion we reach after we process the information sent on the other channel.
