there seems to be some tweaking need with the "weight" of the ships. the reason i say this is im flying a battlestar advanced and im constantly getting knocked about by daft little ships ie. starfliers and such. is this something to do with the game or is there anything you can do to sort this problem out???

thx

This is a common problem with any mod that uses large ships. IT cannot be changed as the actual game is made for fighters and freighters. Trust me if it was possible it would be in effect already.

It is possible just not worth doing.

A few years ago when I first started playing the game (prior to me putting it aside for a year or so and picking it back up again) I did a lot of modding for a personal server some friends an I used. You can mod it so big ships knock little ships around and shrug them off like bugs. The down side is steering and stopping. They become full day affairs. Even though the game only implements a pseudo physics model its enough to make it un-enjoyable if you try to approximate reality. The more you tweak the physics the more things in-game you need to tweak to compensate for each previous tweak. Mass is the hydra of FL modding.

FYI
A battleship that tosses the fighters like bugs takes half a star system to come to a full stop from cruise. Thats after you have killed the engines, flipped the ship and turned on cruise again to help the slow down process. ...And while the first time you do that is highly entertaining it will get old immediately following that first experience .

Other than the way Budda just said, there is no known way to stop battleships from getting nocked around. Thats why we enacted a rule that no one may intentionally ram another player in combat to gain an advantage.
