Teishu Kyoukan stood at the bridge of the newly constructed Seishou-kaku. Warship of the Blood Dragon's fleet. The first of its kind. A small, but very potent vessel. A ship designated Talarca by its designers. Teishu Kyoukan had approached the leaders of the Blood Dragon military with a new idea. A support ship for their fighter squadrons capable of intruding and striking targets in the heart of Kusari and getting back out again. A vessel that could cripple the Navy's capital ships and live through it.
The Seishou-kaku was such a vessel. With weaponry bought from the Outcasts and Zoners at extremely high prices, the Talarca Light Cruiser cost the Blood Dragons more than two-dozen million credits to buy and outfit.
But it was well worth it. He thought as he surveyed the carnage in the space around Seishou-kaku. A wing of Blood Dragon fighters had been ambushed in Hokkaido. Outnumbered nearly 3 to one, the dozen fighters had fought valiantly. Numbers proved to be too much for the pilots to defeat, and there remained only three of the dozen Dragon fighters left when the Seishou-kaku arrived on the scene. They preceded to cut straight through the assault force of fighters, their quad Solaris chainguns demolishing the ambushers.
They tried, they really did. But the Navy Force's fighters proved to be incapable of penetrating the shield of the much large vessel.
"Sir, do you want to pick up the survivors?" He looked out of the bridge viewscreen at the dozens of Naval Force pilots floating through space in their cacoon-like escape pods. His eyes narrowed. "There are no survivors." His voice harsh.
"Yes sir," the sensor officer replied, more quietly this time. The ship's engines kicked into cruise, leaving the three dozen pilots of the Kusari Naval Forces to float until death from starvation or cold killed them.
"Ensign! We have recieved reports of numerous mercenaries being hired by the KNF to deter us from our goals. Lets show them that they will do no such thing. Set course for New Tokyo. Time to put the strengths of the Seishou to use.
Barely half an Earth-hour later they sat 10 kilometers off from their target. A mercenary with an acquired Rheinland Cruiser, sitting by a Samura Base. "Helm, proceed to target. Weapons, have the Solaris Chainguns target the ships weaponry. Battlerazors, target the mid-ship. Infernos, fire when shields recharge."
After the first three volleys of their dual-Infernos, the cruiser finally woke up to the fact that it was under attack. Perhaps they did not believe the Blood Dragons had the ships capable of penetrating New Tokyo with sufficient firepower to hurt them. He smiled. If that is their thought, than they will be sorely disappointed.
His grin turned to a malicious one as the ship's shield collapsed and the Solaris turrets and Battle Razors cut in. The Solaris turrets morphed the scene into one of marginally controlled chaos as they ripped across the bow of the ship towards different weapon placements. The Huge Battle Razor cylinders then blasted at the ship middle, gashing huge holes in the side of its hull. A volley of sporadic fire returned towards the Seishou-kaku in response, dinting the shields just slightly. After a few more volleys, the Rheinland Cruiser almost pierced the shield of the Talarca cruiser. Teishu sent the craft into a spiral around the other ship so suddenly that the other ship's weapons hesitated as it had to retarget the ship. Though what return fire it managed was not accurate enough to hit the fast-moving ship. The Seishou, however, was not targeting such a fast-moving target. Racing around the ship, the light cruiser delivered blast after blast from the Battle Razors.
Quickly, the craft stopped its forward motion and used the Battle Razors and Solaris Chainguns to quickly destroy two of the heavier cruiser's primary turrets. Lacking as much firepower, the cruisers exchanged blow after blow, but the bigger cruiser's weapons failed to pierce the shield of the Seishou-kaku. The Seishou on the other hand, used its expensive Inferno cannons to quickly drop the ship's shields. Allowing the BattleRazors and Solaris weaponry to dismantle the other ship's weaponry piece by piece. After about 15 minutes of fighting, the other cruiser was down to two cruiser-class missile turrets that were insufficient to get through the cruiser's particle shielding. The Seishou-kaku focused its firepower in the direct center of the enemy vessel and punched a hole through it with enough force to cause the ship to break off at the center into two pieces. Escape pods shot out from the sides of the cruiser, as Teishu Kyoukan brought the ship around for a trip further into the system and the safety of the empty space located there. Leaving the survivors for the Kusari Navy to rescue.
Teishu initiated the ship's comm and congratulated his crew on the victory.
"Commander Teishi, the bridge is yours. I will be in my suite preparing a report to send to Kyoto."
"Yes Captain," she replied.
(No, this isn't a post of my victory, as some of you always think my posts are. Its the beginning of the story about the man and this ship. Not only will I be posting the current acts of the Seishou-kaku, but also the history of it and its captain.)
Teishu Kyoukan stood on the bridge of the Seishou-kaku, his face contorted with contempt. These Bretonia pilots are no better than the Kusari Naval Forces. No wonder they have been losing this war.
Outside the viewport were the remains of the battleship and its escort the light cruiser had demolished, after having been abandoned by the present SF gunboat that was the only real opposition to the cruiser's presence. The gunboat had been engaged, then chased as it fled back to Leeds. On the other side of the jump gate, it attempted to once again engage us with the help of the BAF ships on station in the area. However, the Seishou-kaku proved itself more agile than the SF capital ship had previously thought, and inflicted massive damage to the gunboat while avoiding the fire from the nearby battleship.
The gunboat's hull-repairing equipment was not up to the task of repairing the amount of damage the cruiser had inflicted. Again, the gunboat tried to flee, but the cruiser disrupted it time and again with its train-class cruise disrupters. No more than bare minutes later, the gunboat had been reduced to half its size as the other half, black from laser-burns and half-melted hull panels, drifted off. As the gunboat's intact half floated by the bridge, he saw the name Relentless christened on the side.
As the cruiser once again took off to Tau-31 to help increase the damage done to both sides in this war, he caught sight of heavy lifters coming in. Obviously to take the ship to the shipyard and get it repaired as soon as possible, and to save the still-alive crew from the broken down hulk.
"Ensign, take us back to Honshu. We are done in this system for now. I've heard of the arrival of a new KNF ambassador, as well as repeated pirate incursions into Honshu. Perhaps we will find some nice hostages, or perhaps targets there."
