Gentlemen,

While attempting to deliver a second load of 4,995 tonnes of Food Rations to Planet Crete as part of OSI's relationship with the Corsair nation, i suffered an attempted piracy attack inside Omicron Gamma.

As is standard OSI procedure, i announced my arrival in Gamma and requested permission to approach Planet Crete to await a cargo scan and final permission to dock and unload. Permission was granted by your_face, so i approached Crete and stopped for a cargo scan. This is where proceedings take a dark turn.

your_face quizzed me about the cost and resale value of the Food Rations i was carrying and after i revealed the prices, as i have no reason to lie you, the Corsair nation, he demanded i pay him 1 million credits for safe passage to Crete to deliver the food.

I told him that i would not yield to piracy when delivering Food Rations to a civilian population and tried to impress on him the seriousness of what he was doing.

Here is his response and the log of the pertinent part of the conversation that followed.

I DO NOT hold the Corsair Nation as a whole responsible for this one pilots actions. Though your reaction to this matter will interest me greatly. I have full faith in the the relationship, how ever tested at times, that Zoners and Corsairs have built up over the years on this matter. Food convoys should be immune to piracy from Corsairs when we deliver to Crete! I trust you, the Corsair Nation, will take appropriate action regarding this incident. I would hate to see it repeated or swept under the carpet.

I am however docked on Planet Crete, enjoying the hospitality of Eduardo Morono, the commodity trader whom i have gotten to know during my many visits to Crete. I would appreciate an escort to the Theta jump hole as, until this matter id cleared up, i fear for my ship's safety.

Though Corsair laws are currently being reviewed, this case is covered by previous legislature and by the most recent draft of new legislature to be published soon.
As stated in paragraph 2 of the Corsair Council Proclamation of Laws, 815 A.S, piracy of incoming food shipments is a high crime against the nation and the Council of Elders is at liberty do deal whatever punitive measures against the culprit that are deemed appropreate.
The only question that remains is what punitive measures will be taken. This will be discussed within the Council.
