I see lawful pc forces in NY, Texas, and Penn. all the time. Colorado and Cali, not so much, but still a presence. Lawful cap ships everywhere.

An approximation of my reaction when I see my next victim...er, these forums.

Near planets yes. but in middle of nowhere lane. Only low class NPCs that cannot kill anything (except for new low lvl players)

They are fine.

And just a note, the level determines the equipment they use. So saying 'increase level' and 'increase level and equipment' is redundant, as increasing level already increases their equipment.

I agree with Dab.

The further you go from the (relative) safety of the original game starting position, the more difficult it becomes to take out the npc's. The game was designed this way, and it really does make sense.

After all, it wouldn't be much fun for a totally brand new player to get into his starflea, get set to explore - and get blown up by the level 15 npc Liberty Rogue while he's in New York. Once you're really out into the fringe worlds, then the npc's can get REALLY thrilling. My actual only complaint regarding them is that they can shoot you and not appear on your scanners. I almost lost a gunboat while cruising through what I thought was an empty sector to TWO Osiris patrols.

Well Osiris class BS had some sort of cloaking, but TWO of them? Like for real? I am part of Order but i never saw even ONE. And i can imagine stealth Osiris, but i cant deal with stealthed BH cruisers, realy, you cant detect them until they are at 1.8K but theyr range is nearly 3K. What will come next? Invisible Starfleas mounting BS mortars? (Well i find that a good idea for lolcaps event)

Don't you know? The Order has cl0aking devices!

But in all seriousness, the maker of this poll forgot that NPCs in House Hispania, House Kusari, and House Rheinland are too powerful.

I agree with NPCs being fairly weak in the systems in which the early stages of SP took place.
They tend to be more of an annoyance rather than fun. Try RPing and maintaining your sanity while having 8 OSC and 4 weak BHs swirling around you like flies. They do not deal you any significant damage, but man, they are annoying.

On the other hand, it is difficult to make the NPCs difficult in the starting areas, since low-level players would get splattered after bumping into the 1st trade lane ambush they encounter.

As for the piratelolwuts hanging around bases, at which they should have no chance of survival in-RP (e.g. Fort Bush), either they get sufficient PC protection, or NPC BS protection.

Really? Good to know. I was so naive to think that the level had to do with AI settings (frequence of trajectory changes and so on), since I had the impression that regardless of the damage they can deliver, it was easier to hit low level NPCs. Anyway.... you can just read my "increase level" option as "improve NPCs AI".

Do you think so? I'm still exploring this version of the mod but I wouldn't say that in House Rheinland NPCs are too powerful, not at all. No opinion about Kusari and Hispania... still exploring.

NO! I mean it's hard enough to try and RP with 10 NPC's flying around running into you if they could kill you I wouldn't play my unlawful because they are far far far too troublesome. I think NPC's should be strong in important areas but overall should have low spawn rates.
