Capital Ship Realism

im just going to ignore all the /hate and /youmoronlol going on in this forum.

im not even going to address the lolcap situation.

My suggestion for Cap Ships is a total. all parts need to be implemented for balance.

A- Battleships/battlecruisers ONLY get rid of any anti-fighter capability at all, but make these ships kick even more capital even harder.

Slow down fire rate, increase damage.

greatly increase range on all weapons.

greatly increase armor.

Needs to be able to at least hit gunboat, but nothing smaller.

B-Cruisers-Good mix of anti fighter/anti cap. im thinking two/three to take a BS, two bombers to take a cruiser.

similar to now, but add better antifighter turrets for cruiser only

CDestroyers-Anti fighter all the way. were talking six seven bombers. but no anti cap capability.

special fighterkiller turrents for destroyers/no anti cap turrets (maybe one main gun)

DGunboats. Similar to one of the above depending on loadout.

-same as now.





FOR ALL-

slow them down to increase strategy options. BS should not go as fast as Cruiser, which should not go as fast as Destroyer, which should not go as fast as gunboat, which should not go as fast as bomber or fighter.

And yes, it can be done. i have seen it done. My last server had it as a main feature. Vanguard, now abandoned but still there.



The point of all of these changes i am proposing is not to nerf or deal with lolcaps or make them better, but to encourage strategy. i see almost no strategy here beyond the EVERYBODY KILL THAT BIG SHIP! AND THOSE BOMBERS! AND FIGHTERS! OH MY!. all of the tactics in a fight are at the individual level, and that is not awesomeness. On the Elite defense server (now gone) i practiced free hand combat formations and tactics with my squad for a very long time in preperation for a huge battle, only to get smushed when enemy bombers came down from 20 k above the flight plane to smush our battleships into mush, allowing the enemy anti fighter caps to advance forward and wipe out half our remaining force before we collapsed inward to a defenseive formation, which then crushed part of the haphazard offensive before everybody engaged and we got a pitched space battle. wheras here it jsut skips to the pitched space battle which here, is long and very intense, but a not whole bunch of fun.. ( by the way, it was awesomeness. there is nothing like the combined feeling of scrapping a errant flight of fighters only to get holed by the main cannon of a dreadnaught beacuse your bomber screen disintergrated beacuse of the Navy and their *** **** missile boats!.)

My point is that strategy and tactics is a fusion of PVP and RP.

and thus awesomeness.



P.S also, cap ships SUCK when your in a small ship, and small ships SUCK when your in a cap ship.

PSS both are equally deadly in the right hands, and agianst the right opponents.

PSSSSSSS i dont hate lolwutters. i love them. they are their own special breed. and if they want to go do missions in caps or pirate everything in sight or blow up defenseless traders, so be it. BUT. once they start interfering with RP they need to be put down by the Official factions involved. If five lolwutter caps show up adn try to help at a organized or spontaneous meeting between two sides that are RPing for teh awesomeness, they need to be taught a lesson. Lolcap all you want, but don't get your lawls syndrome in my delicious rp/pvp. (<-MY OFFICAL LOlWUT POLICY)
PSSSSSSSS i think lolwuts should be rped as descendants of a backwoods hillbilly stowaway on the Liberty. it would be hilarious.

We are trying to restrict lolcaps here. Why do you even want to restrict fighters?

Linkus is trying to show how ridiculous one of the proposed solutions are, by using the logic that came up with their proposal in another appropriate situation.
