Well, I just took the new beta for a test drive, and all I can say is GREAT JOB! :yahoo:
I know it is still beta 1 stage, and there is allot of options still on the table, but so far:

New and modified systems look great.
New ships look nice and fly good.
I love the new weapons & equipment.
I like the new ID's..
And (I think), there is some new loot on some wrecks? (will look into this more)

All around, I feel that this will be one the best Mods in the Freelancer community once again.

A big thanks to all who has contributed to the development of the new Mod. :)

ps. If you like to comment, Just give us a general, over all feeling. If there is a bug or a problem, there is
another thread for that.... Thanks .

The Bombers' torps are screwy just now, but it *is* still beta.

Also, Countermeasures for Transports will make pirating ultra-hard.

I like the ideas for most of the IDs, but I don't think the NovaPG one is necessary since I thought they were Blood Dragons. Blood Dragon ID should suffice, right? I don't know, I might just be ignorant of something here.

New ships look cool, altough I personally don't like the big white rods on the Virage, but that's me.

The 2 different sorts of Scanners are awesome. Very well thought out. One series has longer range, but shorter scan range. The other has shorter range but longer scan range. Brilliant. I love it.

NPCs and Credit Cards is nice too. Even if some of the NPCs are ridiculously tough. The Wild seem tougher, but maybe it was the ship I was in. So do the Nomads.

The thing I love most is making vanilla ships resistant to splash. They'll actually get flown now.

I'm enjoying it so far, although considering the substantial bomber nerf it's going to take a creative approach to new and effective tactics involving our beloved dual-torped deathmachines.

I still haven't discovered everything in 4.83... Now with 4.84 coming out, I'll never rescind my Newb status! :shok:

Omicron Eta is classy. Haven't seen the new big ships, but the new bombers are slick ( even the Waran:)) and the Arwing is perfect.

Be interesting to see how the new scanners pan out. For lawfuls scanning for contraband and pirates pirating NPCs it'll be awesome. For pirates hoping to gain the element of surprise on players they won't get used at all.

I wish the Firefly was a freighter with very bad guns, but that's just me.

Looked a little for smuggling routes and haven't found anything, but I'll keep at it. Should be a fantastic addition to the trading game.

The new collision damage is nice. Now people will stop using that sick collision tactic to get you. Also, it seems that would make ramming a battleship like suicide...

Don't be so sure, Korrd. I shall do my best to only hit your debris on the way out. No more smashing cockpits for me...*giggles*.

Sorry, I had to say that. You will not escape my wrath so easily... (as a point of reference, 'sick' over here means 'cool'. Odd I know, as I don't understand it either...)

Moving on,

The Arwing is a excellent ship, and Vanilla ships becoming more resistant to ordinance can only be a good thing. Maybe ships such as the Templar (Tank of Discovery) will come into higher usage.

Excellent mod, but I haven't had much of a chance to try it out yet, with sixth form weighing down my shoulders.

I played most of the day yesterday and found no problems whatsoever, it look a nice stable system not even a hint of yellow lag. but only time will tell it really needs a lot more players to give it a good test, I think the most on yesterday at one time was about 8 or 9, I like the new ships but I have to say that my favorite GB then dragon has remained the same I would liked to have had a bit more power and maybe a forward gun to bring it up to be a bit more equal to other GBs, there again it might be that I can't fly it, but then the talarca spring to mind.

Flown the mk II on the NS mod, it's the finest-made model I've seen.

According to what my guyz are telling me (yeah, who else would put that plane to intensive tests first?) it lacks agility a tad. (supposed to be a mk II of an already... not-the-best)

Only problem is with adding another Correllian Cruiser. I don't like having Star Wars ships, but meh...

Arwing is an interesting choice, as is the Viper MKII. Its a little to "clean" (Bright white) for my taste, maybe something with a little more blood on the outside?
