After I said, what I will say now, I will get flamed as much that I feel in Hell;)
Let's just limit the shiplist of anaffiliated players to light fighters and light freighters. That way, we will push up factions and overall roleplay will get as high as possible.
What I see now is just a simple thing:
Everyone has a free trader flying a large train or container transport collecting money, and ignoring roleplay. With that money they finance their pirate uber-ships and uber-battleships and buy a pirate id. They have one char in a faction, but that is just for the fun. So most of the time there are the big pirate battleships around ignoring roleplay and just fly around searching for PvP targets.
I don't understand why this is happening here. We have the PvP server, so why are those people on the RP server?
Okay, on the RP server are more possible targets since dedicated roleplayers who see their fun in roleplaying instead of shooting down everything.
Its really sad to see see a ratio of 1/10 tagged/unaffiliated players online. For example there is NO house faction with a real active fleet around. Always 2 or 3 active pilots around, why united pirate fleets are there all the time.
But why should a Xeno fly with corsairs, outcasts and dragons? Makes no sense in roleplaying, but it is very good if they want some quick kills.

I applaud you for not flying a container ship between Harris and McDuff:)
I have a 2500 unit Behemoth and a 345 unit Camara. My point is that the vast majority of traders you see out there are in massive transports. It would be nice to see more game reasons to fly the smaller merchant vessels. Such as: better able to survive attacks while still carrying enough cargo to be useful, and able to carry specific cargos like dope and prisoners for example. As it is the big transports do just fine hauling 4500 units of Cardamine through House territory, and that's unfortunate in my opinion.

There are a decent number of players trading in freighters. Myself included.:)
OK, technically I suppose that the Spatial is a VHF, not a freighter. But that's what I use it for: the cargo hold is big enough for it to be used as an effective light freighter.:)True, it has better weaponry and is more nimble than most freighters. On the other hand, I don't get to use those fancy freighter shields either: and a Spatial is hardly a difficult target.

I use a Collector too, but it can kill just about anything it can't avoid, much like the Spatial. They're not really freighters and the 160-ish cargo hold isn't sufficient for trading, it's token.
