Captain's log, supplemental.
I am sitting in my brand new ready room right now, luxuriously decorated and furnished fit for a fleet admiral, and I'm recording this message to commemorate The Pegasus's commission and soon, her maiden voyage.
Those who were among us in the recent Volantis rescue mission, which involved the attempt to rescue a lost Zoner Trading Consortium exploration vessel in alien space, would know that I was the captain in command of The AngelWing - a Corvo Class cruiser - which was destroyed in the heated skirmish between the joint rescue fleet and aliens. For more specific information, please refer to this data file, a report on the incident from my perspective until the destruction of The AngelWing.
After nearly a month of anticipation, Interspace Commerce has finally sorted out the paperwork and compensated the renovation of a Corvo Class cruiser from Lividia shipyard. The result was impressive, I am faced with a nearly brand new ship, tailored to the crew's comfort. All original navigational and experimental data have been re-installed onto the new mainframe, now twice as fast and three times as efficient as the old one. We were given many luxuries which we did not have before, food replicators, a functional material transporter and all the latest gadgets you can think of.
Also, the ship's vital systems have been upgraded. Including new firmware for the weapons targetting system, longer range sensor array and above all, a reinforced structural integrity field which may prove useful in future combat situations, however rare they might be. Hopefully all these changes will be beneficial to us out in the field other than eye candy. Cabulb Jr. even got his own computing resources to play about with, so no more cutting off my music playback sessions to reserve memory for him.
Although the new ship is now much more comfortable and pleasant than The AngelWing, my old girl. It just does not feel the same; it is no longer the ship where my family lived, where my father devoted most of his life to exploration, where I was born. The AngelWing's old crew, ever since my order to abandon ship, have been sensitive to even hearing the old girl's name being mentioned. It also pains me to have to think of my father's life's work being completely annihilated so easily, in a matter of seconds, just like that. So I have decided, to give the grand replacement a new name - The Pegasus.
May The AngelWing rest in peace, and may The Pegasus soar the new horizons and continue our legacy!
