can't buy cavalier with civilian ID

i am in New London and would like to buy a Cavalier.

I do everything i have the habit to do :
getting back my scanner and my civilian ID

when the trade is done i have a green message :
"ERR you cannot buy this ship because do not have the correct ID"

i cannot find why and the tech chart states nothing for Civilian ID so i don't know.

what is the matter here ?

Buy freelancer ID, it should work. I had the same sit with Armoured Transport in Cortez.

mmm, buying an ID to get a ship twice cheaper ? :/
Is it only legal ? Cavalier/civilian ID ?

Edit : well... i used a recruit ID but... what is really the affiliation of Cavalier ?

i guess it is a bretonian police/military ship, so can it only purchase with a bretonian Police or Military ID, that would implicit, that you have to do approximately 10 Missions before you can buy an appropriate ID / Ship. if iam not wrong......

besides, this was the route i wanted to take finally.

But it might be great if civilian ID was added to the tech chart,
and greater if there was more precisions on what is military and what is civilian compliant
since it seams a lot of people is confused about this (me first:)).

I mean :
i can take a rhino (labelled "liberty freighter") and not a cavalier (labelled "bretonian fighter")...

You're actually right on that one KataMae, there does need to be more of a definitive line between House Civvie and Military ships.

Civilian ID allows;

Allowed ships: Civilian Fighters, Freighters.

So, You can only buy Generic Ships up to Freighters with this ID, nothing more.

Also, I don't have time to search and find the exact post to quote (Maybe I do it later today), but somewhere in This Thread, Dusty clearly said all House Weapons and Combat Ships are House Police/Military, and House Civilian only includes Freighters and Transports.

So, yes, Rhino (Freighter) is Liberty Civilian, but Cavalier (Fighter) is Bretonia Police/Military ship.

yes, i knew about the difference between ships and fighters but i didn't really understand if cavalier was civilian compliant or not... but you answered to this and it makes sense to me now.
