A joint AW / HF defence force stops the LSF/SA from invading Vespucci
Today, a joint LSF / SA assault force tried to invade the Vespucci system, home of our closest allies, the Hellfire Legion. The AW Cruiser, Ulmo, detected the assault force from far away, and alerted all the nearby HF ships.
The sides weren't balanced...
On the Liberty side we had two dreadnoughts, a gunboat and a cruiser. But on the Vespucci side, we had a cruiser, a Battleship and a fighter that later arrived.
One of the enemy battleships, the Thunderbolt, had to retire before engaging. It seems that her power cores were depleted from another battle.
The AW/HF forces managed to repel them, but the Ravager took severe damage when taking on one of the enemy battleships.
The kingsvalliant| was engaged by the Ulmo, and ran away after realizing that his weapons were useless against the superior MK VIII armour of his foe.
Not long after that, the Ulmo received a distress call from the Photuin, an HF ship under attack by the LSF. The Ulmo set course to assist, and was joined by the Iron crucifix on the way there, Reached Freeport 4 not long after, where a Cruiser, the Kingvaillant, and a LSF fighter were attacking said ship.
Our AW war corresponsal, whose name won't be disclosed, has sent us some recordings from on board the Cruiser Ulmo:

An enemy ship blowing to pieces by the guns of the Ulmo and the Nance:
After realizing that her guns cannot damage the Mark VIII capital armour of the Ulmo, the Kingvaliant, a presumed mercenary ship working for the LSF retreats again.
Death on our files too. The Photuin got blown up by an enemy ship. Fortunately, the Ulmo transporters were able to retrieve his escape pod before the LSF could, saving him from certain torture and death in the hands of the ruthless Libertiers.
The Ulmo makes a turn to face the LSF ships. Here, we see Sniper. The last standing LSF, fighting valiantly against our forces.
A ship of unknown origin finish the Sniper. His escape pod could not be retrieved by us. Most likely the pilot used an escape transporter, or found a way to sneak past our sensors and reach the station safely.
McCloud intentions revealed! He seems to work for the LSF too! As soon as we finished the taskforce, he opened fire on us.
But is no match for our superior firepower! Ulmo's shield and armour are a cookie too tough for him to roam.
After that, the taskforce headed back for Vespucci. The repair bill was not too high, as we managed to scrap a lot of stuff from the enemy debris.

On that last battle, I was taken down by Luc_McCloud[M]'s Missile turrets. He joined in after being offered a 125 million credit bounty on every HF in battle.
It was broadcasted on System comms for all to hear. The LSF is so weak, they need to hire outsiders to do their dirty work.
Captain Reaver here; Owner and commander of Reaver's Mercenary Company.
Dear Mr.Photuin, it is people like you that make my life very difficult. It is -no- shame to call upon the ample services of the mercenary. Your faction itself proclaimed to be "for hire" at one time, still does I think, and your most notable allies, the AW, have been proclaiming to be mercs for an age. It does not show weakness to hire out to the so-called "private sector." Indeed, it shows strength. For there is no purer form of power that humans have devised then money. To spend so much of it shows they have power to spare. And I assure you, were it spent on the Reavers, the outcome of that encounter would have been quite different. Not in your favor, unfortunately.
So please, before you point the finger of weakness at anyone, keep in mind who you also accuse with that finger. Just because you were defeated in combat does not make your enemies weak and treacherous, it just means Lady Luck frowned on you for a day. My advice; Suck it up, soldier, and drive on.

This is the real true story of rock and roll; it was not about anything more then, how to live your life, as a gangster, in sartorial splendor, and turning the world into a place where normality would never return again...- Malcolm McLaren
"I agree there is no shame in hiring a mercenary to aid you, although I must say...it only stands to prove that the LSF and SA forces cannot hold their own against their enemies.
And yes the Legion still takes job offers although it has never received one...with Liberty's lowbrow broadcasting of lies and propaganda... we might as well not even offer services anymore.
Oh and hopefully...they won't take Ravager out into battle without my being there, it grows annoying waiting for repairs."

To: Supreme Commander Drake Thastus
As I have joined Jack in his quest for revenge, I wish to inform you that I am in no way supporting, endorsing, or supplying this threat to our home system which shares my namesake.
For the Legion! McCloud out.
I am a long-absent Supreme Commander, Executive Commander, Grand Admiral, Fleet Admiral, and Captain in the mighty Hellfire Legion. I have returned, and am on an urgent mission from Drake Thastus to return the Legion to its former glory, and to claim the galaxy for its own. Only then will I be able to rest.
RP Story (Still deciding whether or not to finish)
Supreme Commander Drake Thastus, while I am but a lowly captain, I must ask you to look over your and my words again. There seems to be a contradiction here.
I say that the LSF are -not- weak for having to hire mercs, and then you come along, agree with my dissatisfaction at your boy Photuin, and then imply the same thing as he did! I must protest.
The reason nobody hires mercs is because of testosterone these days. It's because people like yourself and Photuin give them the opinion hiring us is the same as weakness. And of course, any armed group worth its salt is never weak. So, now they fight alone, only with them selfs or allies, and the mercs waste away because nobody wants us. They're all to busy being "strong" and puffing out their chests to each other, like some kind of primitive animals. Yourself among the chest-puffing, there.
My job is war and death-dealing. I can't very well do that and get paid if the merc is seen as a weakness, now can I? Now, I ask humbly, shut your yap about how hiring mercs shows poor form! Maybe, if enough people stop with the accusation, me and my boys and girls will be able to earn a decent meal from time to time!

Dammit drake! We are mercs ourselves, to a degree.
How the hell are we supposed to get more jobs if you make a propaganda campaign against mercenaries?
I think you are digging our tombs by doing that...

"Oh you misunderstand me, there is nothing wrong with mercenaries whatsoever.... Mercenaries are one of the things keeping the economy going here. What I was saying, is that the LSF are willing to crush their own principals because they are losing the war. Remember I too have led the life of a merc. And do explain to me what is anti mercenary in my statement? I must be honest, I was only mocking the LSF in my statement. We all know why Reaver and AW get work... the best anyone?
Oh well, it seems that everyone's on edge as of late, relax a bit gentlemen."

I wasn't saying mercs were bad as much as I was saying the LSF are weak. They always have (or need) capital ship backup, even against a lone fighter (early-mid battle).
I guess being a fighter pilot isn't what it used to be.
