That's what the nasty devs did, demanded hitboxes from Jinx... And you know what? They were created. They had some problems, but they were there.

I'd just settle for a post clearly telling people who to submit the stuff to... Although I don't think people really have any problems with that.

Woah! At what point did I become the enemy Marvin? It was a proposal, nothing more.

When Jinx submitted his hitboxes, none of them worked. It was others who fixed them after (Frozen and Doom). While the current system is good for experienced people, people who are new to the whole 'modding' thing seem to have no way to get in.

It's a proposal, nothing more, I'm not trying to force my views onto anyone else, I promise.

Personally I find what you're describing to be too lengthy though, in a period of three weeks the average user who isn't that interested would probably stop paying attention. So I'd suggest streamlining and amending it to be more time friendly.

If you start your design with the intention of submission it would be helpful to have a checklist to review before beginning I think. Examples follow.

-Is this ship/station needed?
-Am I capable of accomplishing this on my own?
-If I do need help is it available?
-Am I going to finish this?

Those would be the preliminary questions I ask myself. From there it would be helpful to get itno the more complex aspects like taking in community criticisms and the like.

-Is this project going to make the deadline?
-Where can I safely cut corners?
-Are their criticisms fair? Are they right? Are they wrong?
-Will this model be updated? Does it need an update?

Then on to technical details.

-Textures
-Clean mesh
-Unintentional asymmetry
-Export errors
-Intersecting mesh sections or unwelded verticies
-Hitbox

Those are more important than anything I find, and also something that is required of from the designer himself rather than the system. I'm also opposed to leaving the controlling decisions in the hands of the community via poll results, it's just not smart. Vote on the look sure, voice your concerns about it's need or lack there of if you want, but not that.

Ultimately though the decision to review it for submission and where it would fit if at all should be left in the development team's hands. It also wouldn't be a bad idea to have a centralised FTP where submissions can be dumped along with a form giving details on it.

What are you talking about? I don't know how the word "enemy" occured to you. I calmly stated my opinion about the topic and nowhere was there any opinion about you. So please, calm down. If it's because I used the term "nasty devs", that was just rhetorics...

Inexperienced people have a way to get in, as long as they know who to send their work to. If they can produce models with good quality, they can get in. If not, they shouldn't get in - but they will get feedback how to improve their work. I can't see how we can do more, apart from the hitboxes.

OK, I you were probably right about hitboxes from Jinx, I didn't follow it much after that point. Still, begging Gurjiv for them is not the way to go. He has lots of his own work as it is.

This is a very good system; in theory. You yourself know that a lot of people say "I want to buy 50 of those!" And therefore you would get a mod with the upmost of filth and garbage. Ofcourse if you or Frozen check it after the 3 week voting and see if it's worthy enough to be implemented, could work wonders. A big thumbs up!
