What if we add 2 more rings (or layers) of edge worlds around the existing ones? These would be newly discovered, empty (easy to make) and rather dull to fly in (nothing to do except possibly the occasional nomad). These would be true virgin systems that have never had any prior contact. Just planets, clouds, and...space.

What if we added special wrecks to these systems (that looked like a structure) that dropped an item,

"<systemname> Control Point"

So, if a new system was omega-134,

omega-132 Control Point

Description: A pilot carrying this item signifies he has collected an occupancy point from Omega-132. At the end of the week, these points will be tabulated from your cargo hold and the faction with the most points has official RP control of the system.

Why would anyone collect these?
Because, similar to guard factions, the controller of the system can establish and infrastructure. They could use their collective wealth to allow their faction leader to purchase a station, or sentry gun (or, in the case of peeps like Ageira, jump gates). These systems would be total open expansion.

The best part is that system control could flip. If a system owned by the outcasts suddenly was occupied by the corsairs, the existing infrastructure would be given to them. This would add a fun, competitive, minigame to disco where powerful edge world faction vye for power on the edge of charted space.

You realise Mod Updates are so few and far between that this idea wouldn't work, right?

all you have to do is use the disco autoupdate system to spit out tiny weekly patch. Hell, I'll do it myself.

I find this rather redundant.

We don't need another confusing in game add-on which probably is going to get used once or twice for this, we can just roleplay it out on the forums or server.

I see what you mean... But to be honest, I don't find it really... 'Interesting'.

We has 329 systems at one point, quite a lot of them empty ... Was rather tedious, so they were removed.

That needs to happen again. Review all system to include Guard systems. Then somehow certain jump holes destabilize to certain systems.
